[NWN] EN World Game Screenshots

Well, that was fun

I took this screenshot this evening. It shows Elendiel and Kebur sitting on a bench outside the tavern, chatting about their adventures and plans. I belive the context of the conversation was related to the location of Kebur's planned temple (he wants it to be in a very "earthy" area").

Despite seeing characters involved in epic quests and huge battles, I often get the most pleasure out of seeing this sort of thing. I've seen groups of characters sitting together chatting away for ages at times. It goes to show what a decent group of people we have playing on the server, and what a nice little community Ascension is turning into. People know each other, become friends, exchange rumours and gossip - it's like a real town!

It's great to wander through the town and see a couple of people chatting, another chopping wood in order to make bows ... popping into the market reveals a few people buying from merchants, talking to each other. It all feels very alive (depending on what time you're online, of course - there's usually somebody online, and in the evenings often quite a number of people).

Feel free to add your screenshots. It often helps to play with the camera a little before taking the shot - I like to lower it to eye level, horizontally, as you tend to get the best shots from that angle. Simply hit "PrtSc" (Print Screen), open up MS Paint, paste, and then save as a JPEG.

Didn't even know you were around!!
Great shot, I'm saving this. Thanks!

Actually, Elendiel and Kebur have these little "bench chats" practically every time we're both on-line at the same time. Right there, in front of the tavern. To be honest, it's always a pleasure (and quite memorable RP). I wish there was a way to log them... They have really shaped the friendship of our characters.

What's funniest though is that I also took a couple of screenshots of that scene as well! But they're saved as .tga and I still don't know what to make of that format, otherwise I might have posted some shots earlier... I figured I'd just keep taking shots and one day figure it out. But now I'll just try it your way. Oh I did read of a way to play NWN in a window (as opposed to full screen), if anyone is interested. Oh and you can remove all the interface by pressing "h", before taking shots (something I don't always think of).

I'll post some of my shots in next couple of days, so remember to smile! :D

Well, here it is, my first posted screenshot!

It features *gasp* Kebur and Elendiel.
Kebur is bowing to Elendiel, in the Paladin's temple.
(Yes, contrary to popular beliefs, Elendiel does have a face. Me thinks he likes his helm a lot though. Okay, maybe I'll be the only one laughing at that one...)

I have over 20 shots as .tga files. This one was the last one I took, so I was able to use MS Paint. I hope I can make something out of the other ones, I might have a couple of good pics to post...

I've been trying to take shots of most of the characters I meet. But action shots are harder (I mean, when you're fighting, you do have other things on your mind, like fumbling through the radial menu :p )

This one was fun to watch. I don't know if the participants noticed the 200 XP I awarded them for it.

Guess what happens when a low level wizard(ess) wanders into a kobold encampment alone? She gets stuck full of poisoned arrows, and falls to the floor, dying, very quickly. As she lay there, at -5 HP (she had stabilised), she sent her familiar, the trash-talking pseudodragon back to town for help. The pseudodragon flew back to town and encountered Brakk as he emerged from the market. Flying up to him, it cried out "Help! The boss is in trouble!", to which Brak replied "Where? Lead me to her!"

The familiar led him out of town, down the West Road, up the hill and through to the Kobold Hills, where he found the mage lying unconscious. Pulling out a healing potion, he poured it down her throat, and she groggily stood up and asked "What happened? Was I hurt?"

Brak explained to her that her familiar had gone for help, and suggested that he aid her in her exploration of the hills - on the sole condition that the pseudodragon not say anything mean about him. The pseudodragon grudgingly agreed saying "Well, if the boss thinks it's important, I'll try to be nice."

The 200 XP I handed out was because it's great to see a player possessing his/her familiar and roleplaying it as a separate entity.

Oh, I wish I could have seen this. This would be a good Game Moment. :)

My, my! I'm surprised Tane could hold its tongue and didn't just wander into town shouting something like: "Hey! Stinky! Yeah, you there! Come with me, my boss needs help!" :p

I think Henryk had the best reply for Tane. Something like: "Know your place, familiar. Bow before your better!"

That familiar had a bit of a "showdown" with a penguin last night. I think the penguin won!

Tane: Ha! But can you breathe fire? I can!

Penguin: You bet I can. Watch this!

The penguin waddles away a short distance and then unleashes a mighty fireball into some nearby undergrowth.

Tane: Bah! So you can breathe fire. But I can fly, and you can't!

Penguin: Fly? I can do better than that! Watch and learn...

The penguin vanishes, to appear behind the pseudragon. Then it vanishes again, appearing some way off to the left. Several seconds pass as the penguin teleports from one place to another, appearing in different locations all around.

Brak: Ughh... I'm getting dizzy.

Tane: Well, yes... but you're still just a waddling penguin.

Suddenly Tane's mistress is transformed into a penguin. She stands there in bewilderment: "HELP! I'M A PENGUIN!"

Moments later, she is transformed back, and both she and the pseudodragon run screaming round the corner, shouting "Watch out! Scary penguin!" The emerge from round the corner a minute later to find that the penguin has mysteriously vanished.

Seems like the type of penguin we always meet in our group, especially with the mysterious appearing/disappearing thing...
We usually try to ignore them, even if they always have the craziest conclusion to tell...

Well, it's not at good thing when you're at the office, laughing alone in front of your computer!! But thanks for sharing that story! It made my day!

Looks like Tane has finally met his match!! :D
I don't suppose you have shots of that incident, though?

Hey, Valn! If you want to get into those TGA files, there is a freeware viewer called Irfanview at www.irfanview.com . It's quite possibly the best free graphics viewer I've ever seen, and has limited cropping and batch conversion functions. Well worth it.
