I'm glad you like that Morrus. I did notice the 200xp by the way, but didn't want to say anything as it would more or less ruin the moment. ;)

Although Angcuru Ioneil is my favorite character in terms of backstory and suchlike, it's a lot more fun to play Aeare Lissilammen. That being because there are more people in her general level area, hence more grouping, playing a wizard with all them neat-o spells is cool, AND you get Tane the trash-talking pseudodragon familiar! :D (That, and leveling is easier! :p It's taking me forever to get Angcuru from 15 to 16!)

Thanks to Henry for showing me to that nice program, I can now post a few shots. I will post more of them tomorrow.

Three shots from tonight.
1. From left to right: Elendiel, Chazman, yours truly (Kebur) and Darius. In front of Morrus' Tavern.

2. Pretty much the same scene, but from a far point of view, for those that can't play.

3. From left to right: Henryk (like taking off that helm changed much of anything! :p ), Kebur and Angcuru. Still in front of the Tavern.

Well, that's it for tonight.
Remember to smile when Kebur's around! ;)
Oh! and it'd be nice if you all could take off your helms and lower your weapons while in town! :p

One more for tonight!

Okay, I thought that those shots weren't all that exciting (no offense to those involved, of course).

So here is a pic that pretty much sums up my short expedition west of town.

From left to right:
Two ugly half-orc bandits, 3 stirges, another pair of half-orcs running alongside a brown bear (oblivious to them, as it seems focused entirely on me), two firebeetles and that half-orc who is getting waaay too close, and yours truly of course.

Not so much as ennemies go, even put together. So what am I really running from? Well, the most DREADED of our ennemies, the beast that leaves spellcasters without active and memorized spells, the entity known as....
the server auto-restart sequence!!

Stay tuned for more exciting (???) shots!!!! Tomorrow, more on the friendship between Elendiel and Kebur. And that expedition to the Nether Caves that took place two nights ago.

Good lord I never thought I would see an adventure based on Adam Sandler's Billy Madison!

Expedition to the Nether Caves (Aug 31, 2004)

Two nights ago, a group composed of Henryk, Brak, Aeare and Kebur made an expedition into the Nether Caves, a foul place filled with undead creatures.

Although Henryk had to leave after some time, the rest stayed a few more hours and made good progress. However, fatigue (OOC: extreme lag!) took its toll and our brave adventurers promised they would be back to check the deeper level some other night.

Shots:

1. Our group, minus Henryk (see above post for his pic). From left to right, in front: Brak, Kebur and Aeare. Behind Brak: Tane (the trash-talking pseudodragon). Shot taken after we dumped.... *hrmm* guided Henryk back to the exit.

2. Our group in action in the Nether Caves.

3. Once back in town, Brak had enough of Tane.
Brak: "I gonna kill beetles. At least they don't talk back."

In hindsight, I'm sure Henryk apologizes for having to run for the exit like a diarrhetic madman and dumping the party, but I'll let him speak about it himself. :)

Well, it's quite all right. I forgive him.

Now you already know how my short expedition to the west of Ascension ended (see my post above). I have three more shots.

1. The group of this expedition: battle-ready Keb and his faithful dire Bear. (I just like the way this shot came out! :) )

2. A burning boat? What is going on?

3. Surrounded by a group of half-orc bandits.

When I say that Kebur is a scholar-priest of Moradin, I mean it. He's no warrior. Despite my ealier bravado, after my bear had been killed (more rapidly than I had imagined), with no attack spells left and with the impending auto-restart sequence about to happen, I decided to get back to town. I fought this group, then avoided the rest. Trigger after trigger, I got more and more creatures chasing me. Fortunately I had enough space to manoeuver. And oddly enough, a dwarf in full plate armor isn't as slow as I expected. The result:

It's also a good thing that creatures somehow can't seem to be able to cross area transitions. ;)
I arrived in Ascension right as the auto-restart hit. I decided to call it a night.

Of Gold and Goodness (part I)

These are all from a conversation that Kebur and Elendiel had monday night (aug 30th). I played with the angles, zoom and tried to get some of the text that we exchanged. I'm not sure if this will be interesting to other players, but at least Elendiel will get to see some of the pics I took. ;)

1. One of the biggest building of Ascension is Elendiel's temple of Lathander. It is even more impressive inside. This is the main Hall, one for meetings and ceremonies. We moved on to a smaller, more confortable room...

2. A living room of some sort. There are seats, but none that can be used. That is why Kebur is sitting on the floor for most of the conversation. (Actually that was a strange thing, because although the "sit" emote usually only lasts a few seconds, Keb was seated all this time with no effort of my own. I'll see if I can repeat this, could be useful...)

3. We talked about a few things, notably a dark temple that Bognar and Elendiel encountered on their Quest for the Crown. At some point though, Kebur went to the topic he truly wanted to discuss...

4. As it was, Keb only had about half the money he believed he would need. Elendiel made a most generous offer.

5. Kebur hesitated... Not that he had doubts about Elendiel's motives. But it was a matter of pride, both as a dwarf and as a priest of another religion.

to be continued...

Of Gold and Goodness (part II)

Here is the conclusion of my short story.

-------------------------------------------

6. Master Elendiel insisted. He argued that most of this money was from dark places and those who serve the Great Evils and that he would very much like to see it put to good use. Ultimately though, his best argument was this. (look at the picture) It was all for the Greater Good. And Kebur felt that his pride should not stand in the way. Surrounded by ennemies on all sides, Ascension could use all the help it could get.

7. And so...

8. And a thank you.
