Hah! I shall have the first RULES QUESTION POST!

Is there any prestige class out there that would legitimately get a sorcerer or wizard healing spells? That can be used as class spells -- taking a level of cleric doesn't count. They have to be arcane healing spells.

In Defenders of the Faith, they say that if an arcane spellcaster gets access to a domain of spells, they are added to their spellbook or to the spells they know. But I haven't found a prestige class the gives access to any domain of your god (which you'll make Pelor or some other healing god) so you can pick up the Healing domain. All the prestige classes I found required divine spellcasting, and gave increases only to divine spellcasting levels.

Anyone know of a way around this? I want my 1337 evoker to be able to whip out a Heal spell and a True Ressurection. :D

Hah! And I shall have the first RULES ANSWER POST!

Eldritch Master prestige class allows the following class feature:

Spell Dilettante (Su): The Eldritch Master may choose a another classes spell list to learn spells from. Once a class has been chosen it cannot be changed. Even if the spell list is divine in nature, the spells are arcane spells when cast by the Eldritch Master.

While not a prestige class, a wizard or sorcerer could always use Simbul's Synistodweomer (sp?). It's a 7th level spell in Magic of Faerun that allows a wizard to expend a spell to heal 1d6 per spell level to himself or someone else.

Personally, I like summoning creatures with spell-like abilities that can heal. :D

Three good answers. Not quite what I want, but all decent ways around it.

Summoning critters would be, in some ways, even more effective, but not quite the style I want. I want an evoker who Heals.

Synestodweomer (no, I don't know if that's correct, either) is useful, and not to be forgotten, but not what I want.

The Eldritch Master fits the bill nicely for a sorcerer, except one little problem: it's in a Dragon magazine. I don't know how many DMs allow prestige classes from Dragon. Hell, if they saw the Rage Mage, they might just disallow *anything* from Dragon.

But it's the only solution I know of so far of getting an arcane caster -- wizard or in this case sorcerer -- real, full healing power. Still doesn't help my hypothetical evoker, but it's better than nothing.

Simbul's Synostodweomer (<-- correct spelling) is a 7th level spell too, not very helpful at low levels.

As a suggestion (this going a little toward house rules), you could try running this by your DM. Your hypothetical evoker could "double specialize" (have to pick multiple disallowed schools) in exchange for adding the spells from the healing domain to your spell list. The evoker would still have to learn the spells, but it's probably a decent trade off (an entire school for 10 spells). Just don't pick conjuration as a prohibited school....

Umm, that seems not a smart idea to me. Yes, the Eldritch Master could be a solution. I've only heard of it, never read it, but it seems to me that it shouldn't be able to full spellcasting progression in another class, at least not while adding more spellcasting levels to your current one.

Quite frankly, an evoker who could dish out fireballs, explosive cascades, flying, haste, polymorphing and healing would be overpowered. I mean, why not add fighter feats, better hit points, sneak attack, and 8 skill points a level. (I'll ignore the obvious cleric joke)

Essentially, you could get the Eldritch Master (which I don't think allows for that powerful of spells) or multiclass to cleric. Anything else would be overpowered.

Cloudgatherer's idea could work, but it would be exclusively in the realm of House Rules. Which isn't a bad thing, but it would make an entirely non-portable character.

Hammerhead, the whole reason I want an evoker with legal access to healing is that it IS gross and over-powered. That's my favourite kind of character. :D The Eldritch Master allows you to get spells of any level, but it's limited to Bard and Sorcerer, and it does not increase your spellcasting level -- just the number of spells you can learn. So you could have an evoker-like sorcerer, with meteor swarms and true resurrection.
