(O.T.) The Jester's Real-World Adventures

the Jester

Legend
Well, some of you know I'm about to go on a rather spontaneous journey across the country. I hope to drop in on some of you folks who offered me a couch to crash on, and I thought I'd start a thread here to sorta trace my adventures as they occur and to keep in touch with interested folk.

Currently, my plan is to leave tomorrow (Wednesday) from Sacramento either via bus or train. My first real destination is the Seattle area to drop in on a good friend. After tomorrow I won't be around regularly, but since I worked at a Kinkos I should have an easy time getting computer access. I'll try to drop in when I get the chance!

Hopefully I'll be able to generate some adventure ideas for all you folks on my adventure!

As much as possible, Clay! :D :D I'm not sure exactly how long each leg of the journey will take, nor do I know how long exactly I'll be in each place that I stop at, nor am I entirely sure where exactly I'm going. As you can prolly tell, I'm being pretty spontaneous here! But as things clarify I'll post here to check in with everyone and stuff... and I'll try to email those who've offered me a couch or whatnot as soon as I have any idea at all of when I'll be in their neighborhood!

Seeya, and I'll try to bring some clay for you....

Hey there folks!

Well, I'm visiting some friends in Seattle at the moment (first leg of epic journey), converting the household here to 3e... hehe... a little over a year ago, I gave the PH to one of my buddies that lives here, now I've bought them a MM as well. I think I've got them convinced.

I saw a very interesting thing here- there's a huge troll under a bridge. It's clutching a VW bug, and although we just drove by it it was very impressive!

I plan on heading to Canada in a few days- anyone available to hang out? If I recall aright, Hellhound's up there- I'll check the "crash on your couch" thread and email you when I'm more certain as to my timing, and I'd love to see your office.

I'll post another update on my travels here next time I have half a chance, and hopefully I'll get the chance to meet a few of you folks as I cruise through the country!

Tallyho, off I go....

Hey Jester, i may not be able to put you up, but lemme know if you make it to Atlanta. Ill take you out and show ya around!

Hrm. You're in Seattle at the moment, and Hellhound is somewhere in Ontario...

You're most of a continent away from him at the moment, so I think he has plenty of time to prepare for your arrival. :)

:D LOL :D

According to MapQuest, it'll take Jester about...

49 hours by car... 4,630 km drive from Seattle to Vankleek Hill. That's taking the quicker route through the US. It's longer if he travels into Canada first.

And yes, my couch is free for you Jester, when you arrive.

:D

Well, now I'm in Vancouver...

I haven't been to Canada before, and I have to say that so far I'm impressed by the character of the people here. Everyone I've talked to has been nice, mellow and friendly. It seems that, as a society, Canada is prolly NG (from a 12-hour-glance, anyway).

Anyone in the Vancouver area?

Hellhound, I definitely appreciate the offer and when I am a little closer to your area I'll email you again and let you know... I ended up sticking around in Seattle longer than I'd intended, and that may happen here and elsewhere along the way too. But who knows...

I'm thinking of backtracking a little and swinging back through Sacramento to go say hi to the dog, I miss her! We'll see, though; I'm a big proponent of forward not back...

More to come...

Oh yeah, a few inspirations I've had of a gaming nature while out and about: wouldn't a huge, space needle-style watch tower manned by grey elves be cool? Stone shaped with its center of gravity about 6' above the ground level, total height around 600'...

(For those of you who don't know, the space needle in Seattle is this really high building you can ascend and view the surrounding cityscape for miles from. Spectacular!)

Also, the shuffler- a humanoid monster that can't lift its legs, so it can't climb stairs, making it easy to leave in a dungeon somewhere as a guardian creature. It might even make a good template.

As I said, I'll post more here later.....

Tallyho!
