I'm doing some upgrades and will probably pick this up. How is the game, quests and such? Is it better than Morrowwind?

I've got it, and it's cool....but I haven't played it much. The graphics are awesome, but you need a really good video card to run it.

Apparently it's quite good though.

I thought it was worse than Morrowind, myself. The graphics are better, obviously, but they made the game simpler. Reduced the number of skills, took out flight, combat is a bit more action-y.

Still, for the most part, the gameplay is largely identical to past TES games. If you liked them, you should like Oblivion. If you didn't, you probably won't.

Morrowind wasn't that great IMO. I'm just itching to play a good RPG. NWN2 seems to be getting mixed reviews from what I'm reading, but Oblivion is pretty roundly praised.

I wish there was a good Sci-Fi RPG out.

I liked Oblivion a lot. They fixed a lot of things that I found slow and annoying about Morrowind such as overland travel which can be done more quickly in Oblivion without sitting there pressing the "w" key for half an hour.
They did simplify the skills system but I found those too detailed in Morrowind anyway.
It will eat all of your free time although you can accomplish the main quest fairly quickly.
I'd recommend it.
Just my two cents.

There ain't so very many Sci-Fi RPGs around, yeah.

Not quite sci-fi (more like post-apocalyptic), not entirely new (though recently revised; might be that there actually is no english-language version available yet... hmm... :)), but maybe it's something you might like... The Fall.

That game looks cool. I like Fallout/Wasteland type games quite a bit.

I don't know if it will be appearing on the PC, but Mass Effect for the Xbox 360 is shaping up to be a heck of a game. Check out some of the trailers over at Gametrailers.com if you haven't seen anything on it yet. It's from Bioware I think.

There was talk of Bethseda doing a new Fallout game with the Oblivion engine, but I haven't heard anything for some time.

Boring (just IMHO, of course). If you liked Morrowind (I didn't), I suppose you will like it, too. :)
A "Yes" to the first sentence. A "No" to the second one. There are quite a lot of people who loved Morrowind and who hate Oblivion with passion.

Oblivion is technically vastly superior to Morrowind. Unfortunately, it's also soulless and boring. YMMV, and so on.
