Occult Lore?

First Post
Hello!
I'm planning to buy Occult Lore book by Atlas Games, but I like to have some comments about the book first.
Is there new core classes or/and prestige classes?
Any reviews around?

I dont think the OGL allows one to publish a work without prestige classes:D

But yes it has both.... Conceptually this is a great book, it comes with a lot of Plug and Play magic systems... with a bit of modification it has something for nearly any campaign I've played in.

Its worth the money.... YMMV.

Occult Lore is a great book. While a couple of the things are sorta hit-or-miss (Elementalism and Rational Magic come to mind), the majority of it is truely original*, and it's a book that anyone who likes using new magic styles should grab in a hearbeat.

*Very little of it is actualy original in the sense of "never heard of before"... in fact, most of it actualy plays off existing concepts. Astrology, Sympathetic Magic, Onieromancy, Alchemy (In the old, slightly-goofy sense, not in the stuff you can do with a feat), etc etc. But they are all well done and original for the D20 system.

I think it is one of my favorite (non-adventure) d20 books thus far. High production values, good editing, creative new (or newish) ideas. I never would have considered using dream magic until I read this book, but now I have all *kinds* of ideas

The book is really great. It provides the majority of the magic use in my homebrew. The elementalists i think is one of the better one, it replaced the Wizard/Sorcerer in my campaign. I like the focus a lot better. The Sympathetic Mage (witchery in campaign) is extremely cool and the Gleaners (spirit catchers basically) also are used as eastern magic. I also use the skill version of astrology and the new Herbalism skill from it as well. The book is wonderful if you want to add more mystique or flavor to your campaign/setting. The only knock i can think of is that i was expecting 1 or 2 really different magic systems, whereas most of the stuff still relied on the core spellcasting system (or at least the existing spells). I was hoping for something more radical, like a skill based magic system (like the Force in Star Wars) or something i haven't even thought of. Thats just a minor quibble, though, the book is just great.
Thats why i like Atlas Games so much, they always seem to give me something entirely new i hadn't thought of. No other company really ever does that.
