October Errata is up

Let me get this straight: If WotC puts out no errata, people whine. If WotC puts out short errata, people whine. If WotC puts out long errata, people whine.

It's always different people. That's really not a fair statement anyway. There is always going to be someone who complains no matter what. And it's not because we hate the game. People complain because they are passionate about the game and want to make a difference.

Notice how you don't hear alot of trash talk about Gamma World? It's because most people could not give a mutant cockroach-rat's behind about it.

I can see why some would complain about errata being too much because the books aren't getting updated along with it. I think revising the game for balance is more important than worrying about outdated books though.

Although if they ever revise the PHB I'm there!

Okay I admit to being confused.

We are not using essentials.

But the normal 4e updates are not coming out in these updates, but in the essentials updates.

Whats going on guys, is there a reason for this, how many essentials updates have there been that relate to the old version ?

How best to track new updates now, is there a schedule for both types of updates ?

Essentials isn't a new version. It's just new books. Some of those books reprint existing rules. Some of those rules were updated as part of the Essentials editing process.

The "Essentials Update" contained the updates to the rules that were reprinted in the essentials books. For example, Heroes of the Fallen Kingdoms reprints the Burning Hands power, and that power was updated to do half damage on a miss. So the "Essentials Update" updates the Player's Handbook's Burning Hands power to do half damage on a miss.

According to October's update, the next update will be in November. That update will cover all of 4e, essentials or not.

Okay so its an update to reprinted rules.
Mmm... might have been a simpler way to do this.

We dont play essentials, but now you say there are rules updates to the general game in the essentials book called Heroes of the Fallen Lands ?

So we have to get that book to make sure our rules are up to date for the normal game.

They didnt include those updates in the October update, just the essentials update to new printed rules we dont have ?

The updates were in the September update, and are included in the "compiled updates" part of the October update. I've attached the September update so you can see the changes more easily.
