OD&D Scans for Sale?

Does anyone sell scans of the original D&D Rules?

I notice that RPGNow.com sells PDF's off all the original set supplements I to V. But, I can't find the original rules themselves.

Anyone know if those scans have been put on sale? Or a specific reason why not?

No, I don't think the OD&D rules are available as legal PDFs, which seems really odd since the supplements (Greyhawk, Blackmoor, etc) are available for purchase. I don't know why WotC hasn't released the OD&D rules as PDF.

You can get them on ebay for $30-$50 dollars, if they're not mint or one of the rarer printings.

Another option would be to go with the Holmes "blue book." It's much closer to OD&D than to later versions of Classic D&D (Moldvay/Cook/Marsh or Mentzer). The main drawback is that it only covers levels 1-3. Still, with the Holmes book and the OD&D supplements you could run a decent game.

nm, misread which rulebook you were looking for. The terms that we all use are a little muddy, IMO. ;)

Yeah, that's easy to do. FWIW, here's what I use (cribbed from fellow grognards at Dragonsfoot):

OD&D = the three booklet edition + supplements
Holmes Basic = the "blue book"
B/X = Moldvay/Cook/Marsh edition of Basic/Expert (Erol Otus cover art)
BECMI/RC = Mentzer edition of Basic/Expert/Companion/Masters/Immortal/Rules Cyclopedia
