When you write a master's thesis (or a doctorate thesis) part of the job of presenting it is to defend it against critics who, upon hearing your thesis, will ask questions and poke holes in it.

You presented a thesis: OD&D = social mobility, 4e does not.

Defend your thesis from questioning and refutation. You could start by restating your thesis in clearer terms.
