Has anyone mentioned the 7.5 mile deep hole that was drilled by Russian scientists back in the 1980's

I was in an adventure set there.

It's torn down - to spite Nazis, always a good motive - but for several years Spandau prison had a single occupant, Rudolf Hess. It was probably just random chance, but the idea of a single inmate in a prison is always an interesting one. Plus, although it was in West Berlin, the guards were represented by all four occupying powers so the Red Army was present 1/4 of the time.

Similarly, the Teufelsberg is an abandoned NSA listening post built on top of a buried Nazi War College in Berlin.
