OGC means Open Game Campaign?

Alzrius

The EN World kitten
I'm hoping that I'm not misremembering here, and someone can direct me to this...

A few weeks ago, I thought I saw an ad for a new campaign setting. I can't recall the publisher or any specifics, except the big selling point: the entire campaign setting was OGC. All the names, history, NPCs, etc. were open-sourced. Needless to say, I think this is a very cool idea, and hope someone here knows what I'm talking about.

Anybody?

Well, about the 3rd post down B.G. says that all of the usual stuff that's PI is, in fact, PI-- history, names, thematic elements, etc.

Yes, but if you check later in the thread you'll see that BG says he screwed up his section 15 and that he really means that the history, names and such are open. That guy is so silly.

The text of the setting and such is open. I'm going to put up a revised section 15 on our site. It's too late for the first print run, but since our first print run is so very, very small I don't think it will matter much. I don't know how open RPGnow will be to swapping out files, but I'm checking into it.

Remember, this is our first product. What would a new d20 pubilisher be without a screwup in section 15? I mean, come on, it's almost mandatory.

EDIT: See? We mean it. For reals and all.

Hey, even some of the "experienced" publishers are still making regular screw-ups of their S15s! ;)

Now i'm interested again!

But... There's always a but, the section from the pdf you posted that hnadles the OGC designation is pretty unclear.
Materials offered Murchads Legacy derived completely from the d20 System Reference
Document are deemed Open Game Content in accordance with this license. Logos are
"Product Identity" and may not be reproduced without the written consent of the
copyright holder
Clear would be:
All text on page x t/m y is designated OGC. Logos are "Product Identity" and may not be reproduced without the written consent of the copyright holder
Pick up a Green Ronin book and take a look at their OGC designation, it's extremely clear (most of the time).

I think I'll do just that. Any reccomendations?

Was the add for a dead tree book or PDF?

If it's dead tree, you could have seen something for SpirosBlaak. It's coming out through Green Ronin and we've made EVERYTHING except for the art and logos are OGC.
