SWEET! Marvel FASERIP is one of my all time favorites. I think I still have binders full of characters that I created back in junior high. I'd love to see new material coming out for this system.

Thanks for posting that site Joe!

I downloaded a bunch of stuff, and tomorrow I plan to delve into the basement and try to find all my MSHRPG stuff from way back.

I think I'm going to put together a one-shot for my gaming group... :)

Unlike fantasy gaming superhero gaming is a niche market.

I'm sorry, but all rpgs are niche market. There's only a few million people who play the games. Given the effort required to provide them with products, it's quite the niche.

Be that as it may, my group and I had so much fun playing the original game, it would be something to see some of today's smart folks take another stab at the system.

I wonder if you could use the FASERIP rules in a non-supers game by just scaling it. You'd have to adjust things like lifting capacity on the fly, but I could totally see a '30s pulp game using this system and having "Unearthly" be someone who could lift 500 pounds over his head (or maybe a bit more for a cinematic feel). Damage and everything should just work, with regular guns bumped up to the Remarkable range perhaps.

Hmm...

In a recent attempt one-off excursion into Marvel, my group found that the system was a lot more frustrating than we remembered it just in terms of producing coherent characters that were not too weak nor too powerful without tremendous GM intervention over the randomization process. I would love to see a version of the mechanics that answered this problem, possibly with a point-buy system which would allow us to distinguish, say, characters appropriate for Cat's Paw from characters ready for The Left Hand of Eternity.

Random character generation in MSH was not good.

Still... we had many successful campagins with modeled characters and a modified XP system.

Despite the old Marvel game being my first superhero game and several of my house rules for the game floating around the net, I wouldn't go back to FASERIP. However, for those that will have fun playing it, I say go for it.
