OGL rewriting question

How does the OGL deal with rewriting?

example. say i like the way the true rituals (all the OGC parts) are handled in Relics and Rituals, but i'd like to add something. Can i just change the rules as they are written into what i would like as long as i properly list relics and rituals in, i think, section 15?

must i contact the guys at SSS or WW to get permission, can i just do it without contacting them, or should i (more than likely) talk with them before doing anything?

You can edit existing OGC, just as long you credit the source in Section 15.

The "edited" OGC then becomes a Derivative Work and you become its Contributor if anybody wants to use your OGC.

thats what i thought, but as im far from a lawyer i just wanted to get confirmation from the publishing public.
