OGL Trouble

I don't want to sound like a legal idiot, but I don't understand the Open Gaming License. What do I have to place where, and what are the penalties? Thanks for your help.

You want to visit this website:
http://www.wizards.com/d20

and become very familiar with the information presented there. There is a specific document about placement of the D20 icon and what information you need to put on your publications, there is the SRD which defines a number of the core aspects of D&D rules which you can use freely (though not redefine) and there is the OGL itself and how it works.

I've gone there before, and all I see is jargon. I'll try again, but every d20 publisher seems to have something different legally. Do I have to put the entire OGL into every element of a d20 site, or just one sentence? HELP!

Technically, you need to provide a copy of the OGL (with Section 15 Copyright Notice updated) to each and every web page.

But it's okay to have one copy if several web pages makes up one product or document.

Actually, you dont need to go any further than the friendly confines of ENWorld.

This should get you started.

Gah! It's sometimes frustrating to have so much stuff on my site that peple don't realise what's there. I really need to sort out the site navigation.

I even saw people asking for a publisher list earlier - and people were referring them elsewhere!

Lesson to be learned - if you need something, it's probably here. :D
