Oh boy: Kezef the Chaos Hound and I

Can it fly, and does it have any ranged attacks?

Maybe concealment? Get some smoke sticks... It doesn't matter how high his base attack bonus is, even if he rolls a natural 20, a 50% miss chance is still going to miss you 50% of the time.

Stay in difficult terrain so it can't charge or 5-foot step up to you, will prevent you from getting full-attacked. Boost up your Speed and run for the hills!

Make a bargain with it? Maybe someone in the party has a high Diplomacy?

I dont recall elminster's description being copied largely word for word from the description of, say, gandalf. This is just too bloody blatant and smacks of laziness.

I don't think he sayed EVERYTHING in D&D was a rip off/borrowed, just a lot of it. Somethings ARE original. Eliminster being one of them (although I can see him being "inspired" from Gandalf). Wait until you find out about Tiamat (the "iconic" evil dragon that was even in several the D&D cartoon). That too was "borrowed" from RW mythology. I don't see any (mythology) historians crying about that one...

Well, as a Cleric, you have Plane Shift as a 5th level spell. Quick way to get gone. Refuge isn't for you... it's for your traveling companions. If there's a Wizard in the party, convince him the Teleport is THE spell to have. Prefferably the Greater variety. A few Resilient Sphere's will help, too (prefferably Quickened) - these are for you, not for him. ForceCage is especially good (although that one is for him... assuming he doesn't have some way to bypass a Wall of Force, of course.... which he probably does, and that he isn't too big (which he might be).

If everyone has some method of short-distance teleportation (Cape of the Monteback - practically a required addition to the cloak/cape slot at 16th; as a secondary power, it still only costs something like 15,000 gp) then the Wizard need only Resilient Sphere himself at maximum caster level - at 15th, that monstrosity has a 15 foot diameter - which basically means five or more squares contained inside; plenty of room for the entire party. Sphere up, everyone jumps in, Plane Shift/Greater Teleport out as needed, with a rounded Wall of Force between you and it (or a square one, if you spring for Forcecage). It gets HARD to pin a 15th+ level party down. Shucks, at 15th, he can have a Quickened Dimension Door available - Resilient Sphere for you, and with his Quickened Dimension Door he stands next to you, reasonably safe inside. Party joins via Cape of the Mounteback, and a round later, you're wherever you feel like being (plane shife + teleport). Provided there's nothing blocking planar travel, of course, but then, that's what Greater Dispel Magic is for, no?

This is BS, its nearly copied word from word from norse mythology.

Question, we're talking about the Forgotten Realms here. Entire deities (or heck, pantheons .. Mulhorand I'm looking at you..) have been lifted wholesale before. Nothing to get your wedding dress in a bunch over.
