OK a 300$ Budget...

As Morroco Mole would say...

"Yesssss. Secret."

What Arcana Unearthed:
Who:Malhavoc Press
Price:$29.95
Why:I'm a big fan of this game setting/variant PHB. The only crossover with the original 3E PHB as far as races and classes go is Humans. All the other races and classes are brand spanking new. There's a new magic system, new types of feats (ceremonial), a very interesting setting that is intentionally not filled in so that DMs have more freedom in making the world theirs so their players can't tell you where every signpost between 2 cities can be found. Reading this book did for me what teh 3E PHB did...it made me want to play in a MAJOR way.

Hmmm I will tear into the reviews here and approach the investigation with all due caution.

Does one call you... Secret, Secret Squirrel?

In any case; I have received the embedded/encoded message.

Is that plain or salted?

Actually, the SSquirrel stands for the Animaniacs character Slappy Squirrel. Granted I'm a late 20s guy not a crotchety old female squirrel, but I've used the name for almost 10 years on a text only BBS. When I logged in all teh guy names from the show that I wanetd to use were taken so I figured it was teh one name no guy in his right mind would want...hence it worked heh.

Delta Green D20
Pagan Press $34.95

It is supposed to be coming out very soon...last word on the mailing list is this month. Since it is a reprint of the book, with BRP and D20 rules included all bound in a hardcover, you can't go wrong. Especially since you are going ot be buying CoC D20.

Delta Green D20 and DOH! Of course, crochety?

OH MAN!! I have got to pay more attention to the d20 gaming news here!!

DELTA GREEN D20!!!!! Yum... consider this gone and consumed, avidly.

I am sorry about the confusion, I had those books listed in the first post there, to give some sense to my vague ramblings and a background of what I am aware of.

But that said you have made my day.

Thank You.

I did not get the "Animaniacs" connection at all.

Please forgive me!

Oh crochety squirrel goddess and flying rat wrangler.

BTW Dot sends her love.

And feel free to eat the salty honey roasted nuts, I sent embedded in this text. :D

I cannot beat the visual some one has in their sig, to a illithid getting a cookie, for not using the nuclear fire.

Priceless.

In thanks for your contribution, again.

Ditto on Spellslinger.

Here are some others I love:

Book: Dungeon 94
Publisher: Paizo
Price: $10 (back issue price)
Why: Two words, OMEGA WORLD! In my opinion, OW is the best d20 game I own. It is simple and complete. It presents what is essentially Gamma World d20 done right (and before the more recent botched job). Jonathan Tweet's genius shines through. It is all the extra you need for an awesome game.

Book: Judge Dredd
Publisher: Mongoose
Price: $39.95
Why: This is a great futuristic D&D game. It's got the potential for modern cops, post-apocalyptic and space settings. I really like the adventures, too (although I only ran the first two of four published so far). I think it presents a great chance to play outside the "kill a monster, take its treasure" box.

Book: DragonStar Starfarer's Handbook
Publisher: Fantasy Flight Games
Price: $27.95
Why: Another great game with the concept of taking the base D&D game and expanding it into a great future or space game. I ran it as long as my hard-core fantasy D&D players could stand it. They will soon release a bundle of about 6 books for cheap (about $40, I think), and the Raw Recruits adventure from Mystic Eye Games (licensed) is a great mini-campaign with a very classic space opera (Star Trek) setting flavor.

P.S.: The 3 games I recommended are based on the 3.0 game, not revised 3.5. If you have 3.0 only, there is really no need (and little use) to try to convert to 3.5.

You are right I am torn between 3.0 and 3.5

Often mentioned but I never put an issue # to the name and now I have a price and a recomendation outside of the rave referrals to the Omega World...

Book: Judge Dredd

Is it better than the movie? Your praise seems to indicate that is so, that and unconsiously not mentioning the movie.

Honestly, I gave the movie a C grade. Yep I am a sucker for Sci Fi.

Yes and I have lurked on the Story posts from DragonStar and T20. Plus the fan support and fan developement of tech and starship design.

Hmmm that is a good point too, space opera, Star Trek, hmmmmm... vulcan women.

*rattle rattle*

DOH!

The wife saw the last, got to go and pull a foot out of... my mouth, not that considering my other posts.

Naughty, bad Toady. :\

The Dungeon with Omega World has a misprinted spine that says 92, not 94. At least my 2 copies (1 subscription and 1 newsstand) do. So, there may be some confusion out there on that point.

The Judge Dredd d20 game has nothing to do with the movie. I also find the movie entertaining, but the game is based on the comics. It presents a neat world.

In DragonStar, I guess elves are like vulcans (or could be).

Hi
If your on a limited budget check out the PDF market, theres a lot of good stuff at good prices. RPG Now is a great place to explore the options and there are plenty of reviews to help sort the good from the bad. While modesty prevents me from plugging our own products :o Malhavoc, Ronin Arts, Throwing Dice, Spencer Cooley, RPG Objects, EN Publishing and Game Mechanics often see the colour of my money, too often possibly :) . Good hunting
Nigel

Hmmm PDF...

Save only I have the unstated goals of:

1. Ordering through EN World as a show of support and guilt for the years of lurking. :o

2. I am moving and in my experiance, although I collect a diverse pile of information (crap and not crap) I also have little faith in the computer to retain the sweet spendings of my hard earned money. Yes having the famous
XP-Mc Affe's lethal conflict which caused me to re-format and reinstall 3 times...

Wiping the contents of my HD and forcing me to partition, all in the 'Old School' trouble-shooting methodology, based upon Win 3-4 (4.x is 95-98 with 2000 as a bastard child of that and NT) and Win XP as 5.x (NT code/kernel).

Coming to XP was a learning experiance, and the first was, no one is trustworthy until the first S.P., certainly I will store the PDF's on the "D" drive.

But with moving and other considerations I will have to bow to the gods of print and buy what I can hold, much to my regret.

Yes cd's last but now according to research 20 + years not 100's, I am cautious about the information I have collected, but honest. I have a couple books from the 1890's can I say that about a cd?

*rattle* Trust Check DC 30 ... DOH!

Just writing on the side where the brand name is can make a cd unreadable...crap.

Yes I am going to get a Lazer Printer and low acid paper but after a bit.

Enough of the Rant/Babble feat, damn I am tired and cranky and you good folks do not deserve this!!

Thank you again, and trying to find peace.
