Personally, I like the old campy style with mutated animals, sentient plant creatures, crazy tech (like freeze rays) and out of control robots!

How about you?

I want to have a campaign that has fantasy races and remnants of a very very ancient civilization. Think robots with spears and dwarves with light primitive firearms. Pistols, automatics, and higher tech items will be around but rare like +3 swords. There will be computers but those with skills to operate them will be more like monastic priests who study rituals rather than some hack who can access data. It will have a mythic ancient fantasy feel rather than a gritty post apoc feel.

To expand upon my post in the other thread (a combination of Rifts and Warhammer 40K)

The Apocalypse wasn't from a war, but from trying to prevent it, the point of which is that sometimes events are inevitable. In short, arcanists trying to prevent nuclear annihilation called upon forces beyond their control from an altered book of spells. Mutations are caused by raw Chaos, from either exposure or worship of the deities of Chaos (I plan on using the original five from Warhammer, Malal being the fifth). Dimensional portals are rare and guarded now, but during the Infestation of Chaos, were open, and many strange creatures wandered onto the planet, some sentient, some not. Pure Strain Humans are isolationists and rarely allow spellcasters or non-humans into their domains, but they are not as mindless about this as the Coalition of Rifts. Hordes of Chaos worshipping creatures roam the wastelands and deserted towns and cities, preying on the weak and salvaging any old technologies they can. Those dedicated to fighting Chaos band together and hunt down these hideous monsters. And the players will have the freedom to choose.

I am tossing around the idea of starting the game off early using just d20 Modern, and taking the game pre Apocalypse up to the main event. Nothing too campy, nothing goofy, all serious and gritty.

You know... when IS GWd20 coming out? I forgot about it until seeing this thread. I checked S&SS's website, and couldn't find anything other than the original press release. That's another setting that I'd love to use for my "Charlie's Exiles" campaign...

October for the main book, I believe.

I'm basically going to use 6th edition to update my 1st and 2nd edition sets to d20. I'm going to use the "1st edition" apocalypse and fluff rather than than the d20, but I'm looking forward to the "community rules" that'll be included in 6th ed.

The game I'm going to run will be just like every other GW game I've run: serious (we are talking about the end of the world here) with humorous moments.

I can't wait. :D

I'm VERY much looking forward to this one. Not that my handle would be a hint to this. : )
Anyways I tend to run a serious Campaign, but I include Mutant Animal Characters and such.
I'll also be borrowing stuff from Darwin's World, Redline, and many other sources.
Can't wait until October!

GW D20 will be used to enhance my psuedo-Rifts campaign. Right now, I'm using Anthropomorphic Animals from Savage Species as my mutated sentient animals, but I don't have anything really for mutations beyond some quickly converted rules converted from Alternity when the D20 SRD first came out. It'll be used in conjunction with all the other D20 books that I own for a real mish-mash setting!
