Ranes
Adventurer
I would like an open return to Zork, please. That was the best realised computer fantasy setting for I don't know how many years, from its first rendering in text to the pre-rendered graphics and symphonics of its twilight years.
Another setting and game series I would return to if I could, would be Westwood's Lands Of Lore. They were quirky but well designed and written.
Never again do I want to play point-and-click adventure games as bad as Tsunami's Ringworld adaptations but I would gravitate towards a good, first-person Ringworld game like a General Products hull to a neutron star. I know Halo's set on a ringworld but it's just not the same thing.
I'd love a Baldur's Gate style game with real character dialogue. But there isn't one. I've just downloaded the Temple Of Elemental Evil trial version and the dialogue veers from clumsy and wooden, to familiarly inane. (I may buy it for its gameplay but I've been on computer games sabbatical for quite a while, so I was hoping for something more.)
I still haven't found anything like Elite since Elite that doesn't have a simplistic, militaristic setting. But a new Elite would be fine.
