Old paperbacks? What do you do with them?

Well - I was recently introduced to a used bookstore that buys back your books for cash or credit at the store.

Husband and I took a great big box FULL of books to the place... and, in return for our old books, were able to pick up several CDs and new (to us, at least) books. Was pretty sweet.

Maybe check out Google Local for used book shops in the area?

Additionally, you can donate them to Goodwill, the Salvation Army, or the local hospital and - possibly (but I could be wrong) claim it as a charitable donation on your taxes.

I generally divide my old paperbacks between a used bookstore at the cabin, and my wife's annual garage sale.

The proceeds from the stuff of mine, that sells at the garage sale, goes directly to my Gen Con fund. Whatever doesn't sell, she gets to take to the used book store to trade for more books for her. She goes through two per week, so it helps.

If it's fiction and seems like something a middle school student would like, I donate it to the library where I work. You might find a local high school that might appreciate some fun paperbacks.

Normally they still hang around the house in various boxes collecting dust. My Robert Jordan PB, however, fell apart by reading them once. I tossed them years ago; strangely I don't miss them. :D

I like to donate them to the local library, especially the ones a little out of the way in the cvountry that don't have much.

I don't get rid of any of my old paperback books either, much to the chagrin of my wife. I love half-price and used bookstores, because nor do I like to pay full price for my paperback books.
