In the interest of increasing "re-play" value, I've been considering tacking on the 2e races and classes to the BECMI system. This would involve the advancement, multi/dual classing features, as well as the NW Proficiencies. I'd keep Weaponmastery, but only allow fighters (as opposed to rangers or paladins) to have the extra slots.
How well would this balance out, do you think? I'm inclined to use the Thac0 charts out of BECMI rather than 2e, but the 2e saves rather than BECMI. However, I suppose having the multiclassed characters use the best of the human saves rather than the demihuman saves might help.
I'd rather not port completely over to 2e as there are a lot of things I dislike about it (exceptional strength, iterative attacks, the inelegance of special maneuvers, etc.).
I dunno. Let me hear your thoughts!
