It only exists as the germ of an idea, but I think it would be both a) awesome, and b) a relatively simple reskinning.<<I plug my laser rifle into my backpack and set it to 20SEU>>

Was somebody offended in this thread and I didn't see it?I don't understand why somebody should be offended because somebody else likes a different style, nor do I understand the attitude of "It must be my style of play and nobody else may apply".
I guess being right is serious business. Just too serious for some people.
It's just a playful hint at a certain direction the game winks at, I wouldn't read too much into it. No edition warring inferred, trust me - it's got a fair bit of new school in the system as well - something to offend everybody, so to speak.to tell you the truth, I've never really understood what "old school gaming" really is.
And I've been playing D&D since around 1980.

If they are, I apologize
I'm the one who should apologize since I didn't give you the benefit of the doubt.
I'm just a little too wary of these kinds of threads, despite the well intentions of the original poster, devolving into those kinds of tribal attitudes.
Awesome, if you do end up trying to play it, please post about your thoughts/experiences on the website! I'm really lucky to have a small but thriving community of interested DMs and playtesters and they (counting me, too) are always happy to offer advice or feedback.I really have to say this is the first "old school" system I could really see playing. The updated stuff is nice, I could find most of that before but had to dig through the site to find them, having the monster rules and all in one document is even better.![]()
