Old solo adventures?

Did anyone play the old solo adventures like Ghost of Lion Castle, MSOL1 etc.

I don't really have time to play a campaign but I thought it might be fun to play those or any other old solo modules from Basic DnD.

I played Ghost of Lion Castle many times in my misbegotten youth. (And early pandemic times as I couldn't resist revisiting it when it was on sale at DrivethruRPG).

Lathan's Gold is another one I had as a kid that I quite liked.

You'll likely find they scratch an itch in the most superficial way, but there's a level of fun regardless. Both are sitting at $5 on Drive Thru RPG, so for that price I guess you really can't go too wrong.

Ghost of Lion Castle and Lathan's Gold both. BSOLO I really enjoyed, and recently reworked to run for a group online.

Paul and Dan of Wandering DMs did a short series of live-play videos on YouTube fairly early in the pandemic, as I recall, where the two of them played through some solo or one on one modules (GoLC, Blizzard Pass, The Gem & the Staff) together, and they were pretty fun.

If you're looking for solo play options, there are definitely more out there than D&D, too. Flying Buffalo sold a whole lot of them for Tunnels & Trolls back in the day, and still has dozens of them available, last I checked.

I never played a solo adventure in that light. What were they like?

Were they like gamebooks (played plenty of those) like Fighting Fantasy or Middle Earth Quest?

How did one play it?

There is also M1 Blizzard Pass and M2 Maze of the Riddling Minotaur.

I got a print copy of the old TSR Marvel Superheroes Solo adventure for my son when he was young where you play Thor dealing with a Loki plot and you fight a big troll guy from the comics.

Also a couple Lone Wolf solo game books from library used book sales.
Lone Wolf are pretty classic, but game books rather than modules per se, as you note.

Dan and Paul also played through Blizzard Pass and that Thor adventure in the solo/one on one series of streaming vids I referenced above.
