Omata, The Bringer Of The Rain And Rainbow

Ok, I don’t have my notes with me, but we can get started with what I remember. No time like the present!

This thread is to discuss the celestial lord Omata, who is a very powerful couatl. Instead of starting with his stats, I think it would be a great idea to start with the flavor text, and use that to help generate a set of stats that works well for him.

So, to get things going, we’ll work on the following items (more will be added when I look at my notes):

Attitude/personality
Allies/Enemies
Appearance
Followers
Realm/Home Plane

Some notes on those:
Well, what is Omata like? Does he (/she/it) care about mortals? Does he concern himself with only couatl, or with other good creatures as well? In what capacity is he the "bringer of the rain and rainbow"? being Lawful Good helps determine a lot of this too.

Does Omata find any allies among the gods? Certain powerful mortals and outsiders? Maybe another of the unfinished celestial lords (we can add to this as we work on Omata and the others)? Any enemies? Maybe he particularly hates one of the demon lords, or a powerful adversary?

What does Omata look like? How would one distinguish him from a ordinary couatl? We know he is a "rainbow-winged couatl", but what else would we see if we saw him?

Who serves Omata? Anything besides couatl? Maybe humans know of him. Maybe he has lammasu, or sphinxes, or shedu, or maybe celestials such as archons or solars, as followers.

What plane does he live on? Arcadia? Mount Celestia/Olympus? Astral plane or material plane? What does his home look like? Castle in the sky? Cave complex underground? Open plains? None of the above?


So, with that, I turn it over to Omata’s namesake, the one who came up with the idea. You don't have to provide all the information above, but whatever you do add will provide a good starting point for the rest of us. Take it away, Omata!

okay i'll do what i can

Attitude/personality omata is a nature lover first and foremost but over the year he has developed a strong fascination for psionics and doesn't care for arcane or divine magic althow he is LG he has strong neutral tendencies

Allies/Enemies he serves the storm kings of Arcadia mainly the one who rules over rain has an emissary and doesn't relly have any enemies other than gods or goddesses that have drought or famine in there portfolio

Appearance Omata in his true form looks like a huge couatl with deep emerald skin with an alabaster unber belly and unlike most of his kin he has two small horns on top of his head and a mane of pure black hair and on the tip of his tail he has a flume of rainbow feathers and his eyes are purple with red snake like pupels but he can morph into any humaniod but he always chooses odd coloring for the form like a human with silver skin and pink hair

Followers omata has many followers the most Obvious are the Spectrum a group of seven couatl each having mono color wings (one has red wing, one has blue wings ect.) of the rainbow but his most trusted one is a female half elf psion named Prisma.
he is worshiped sometimes on the prime as a life giver and as a repagination of male fertility (rain drops falling to earth and giving life to the land ) but he rarly pays his warshipper any mind but they steel get spells from the storm(forgatten realme setting book) good and plant domains

Realm/Home Plane omatas realms is a lush but ordlerly rain forest that i can't think up a name for right now on the plane of arcadia

Suggestion: Omata should have light and water based powers, such as Rainbow Pattern and Control Water. He should be on good terms with deities of woodlands also such as Ehlonna and Obad-Hai IMHO.

Suggestion: Omata should have light and water based powers, such as Rainbow Pattern and Control Water. He should be on good terms with deities of woodlands also such as Ehlonna and Obad-Hai IMHO.

i realy don't know the names of the dnd gods but the woodland ones are a good idea and i was thinking of giving him prismic spray and control weather bau rainbow pattern is also a good idea

Hmm, psionics huh. Sounds like his followers are psions first, clerics second. How would you handle his dislike of arcane and divine magic? Can his clerical followers gain higher level spells?

ok, here are the other aspects i wanted to resolve:

History in brief: has he done anything that affected the planes, gods, or sentient beings in general? has he had a major accomplishment or learned a special secret?

Symbol: what would his followers write on their books and put on their clothes?

Titles: any other epitaphs that he is known by?

what would his relationship be to Jazirian, the couatl god? servant? rival? ally? alienated? no relationship of which to speak?

History in brief omata has served the storm kings for around 1,000 year he only obtained his greater powers two hundred years ago in that time he has been the benefactor of many psions, psychic warriors and cleric/psions to deal with psoinic fiends. he has taken the first step on destroying the mind flayer god and later the mind flayer race which he sees as a might on the multiverse and made the head dress of omata made of his owm feathers as a symbol for his hi preist to wear it also grant the wearer bonuses when dealing with mind flayers

Symbol: a rainbow that twists around like a snake

Titles: the rainbow serpent, the ender of droughts and the multi colored lord

what would his relationship be to Jazirian, the couatl god? thats the first i've ever hard of that god but he would be an ally for now because he's not interested in becoming god but when and if his power base amung psoinic user grows...

he doesn't dislike them he just doesn't care about them mush he cares more about divine magic just because his clerics aid him in his affairs with the other gods

His scales are emerald, thus emerald serpent, good idea? or did it suck?
