Omniscient Gods annoy me. (Long)

I'd probably think about becoming an Ur priest or something like that. It's been a while since I've used one as a bad guy, but I believe that they don't worship any deity.
His mentor is an Ur Priest. He'd give up a lot of cleric power by becoming one, though. Unless he can persuade his DM to let him trade in Cleric levels for Ur Priest levels, kinda like a Blackguard.

Sounds like Shar is a way to go if Xvim isn't an option.

Didn't one of the Netheril books from 2E mention something about raising a god? Or is my memory just supremely faulty this morning?

Alas, I also recall such a thing, but in a very vague way.

What one COULD do...

Remember in the Star Wars books ? The emperor's essence linguered near Endor.

You could say that when a god is destroyed, shards of him remain where he was slain, so a band of powerful epic evil dudes could go to where he was slain, trick a god into going there, and somehow have that god become the vessel for Bane's soul.

After that, it's a matter of rebuilding his worshipper base so that he can gain in strength.

Sounds like a campaign hook to me.

Unfortunatly where Bane was destroyed is now a dead magic zone. But I like the idea of finding a part of him, some sort of divine essence. Perhaps the First High Imperceptor has some that he'll be willing or unwilling to share.

But I still need some way of keeping the heat of me and my party. Wasn't there an artifact from the Prince of Lies that stopped even gods from divining the location of the wearer of said artifact?

Umm... Not to be a stick in the mud but...

Bane is already back. Don't have the book on me, but I believe it is the 3.5 Forgotten Realms update that talks about how Iyachtu Xvim was Bane's 'get out of death free' card. Don't remember the specifics off the top of my head, but if I recall, Bane burst forth from Xvim's form and retook Xvim's clergy as his own. Also caused quite a stir among the Zhents.

Oh that just screams plot hook to me right there. What might be suppressed in an area where a god was destroyed? What might be discovered (or recovered) if the weave was restored? Perhaps you could probe into the area using the shadow weave - but for that you would need the help of Shar.

Oghma's amulet of godblinding?

The Scepter of the Sorcerer-Kings also has this property.

so you're kinda saying it'll be really hard to do this without everyone finding out?

well then don't hide it, open the door and kill whomever gets in your way ... and make sure you decapitate a few goodie-two shoes and evil maroons along the way.

have a back up plan that keeps you alive however, you do need to live and fight another day.
