So, the verdict on the histories? I see no chatter here . . is this being discussed out of my earshot?

Kanala's from the area - grew up in Ferdinand's Well, and has been making her living as a medium and fortune teller in Eggert's Cove for a few years now. It's entirely possible for her to have a shared history with any of the others from the area; it's also likely that she'd at least be known to anyone local due to her business - maybe she's told a fortune or two for you . . .

Gorgol isn't the type most folks would want to be buddies with. He grew up on the streets here and so may have had youthful contact with others especially during his street gang days. He was forced into navel service for a couple of years and so could have encountered other seafarers at that time. He did some time more recently as a pirate. He's back in the city struggling to make a more or less honest living. He lacks direction so I can certainly see him using Kanala's services recently.

One by land, two by sea-Pathfinder RPG-OOC

Borhald hails from a small homestead/village in a large forest to the north. He makes his living as a guide for caravans and merchants, as well as by hunting. He has also been conscripted as a scout by the King's army more than once. He thus may have easily met Gorgol or Garias, and even Darthan (should the latter have been a guard for any temple expeditions which hired Borhald as guide).

He could have met Kanala either during her stint in the militia or hunting near Ferdinand's well.

Gorgol could well have done some guard work in a caravan guided by Borhald, but most such caravans are unlikely to hire a Half-Orc, so it would likely be a brief and recent association.

Darthan, Human Fighter

Darthan's been spending most of his time at the Temple of Shelyn, so any other party members who are Her worshippers doubtless are familiar with him. He has also heard tales of the fortune teller Kanala, but has never availed himself of her services. He has, indeed, met Borhald, both as a guide for a Temple expedition for which Darthan was a guard, and over mugs of their favorite libations in the nearest tavern where warriors go to slake their thirst.

Garias Nazlagg, Dwarven "Merchant-marine" Magus

I'm not sure where everyone has found their information...

But if we're using Golarion as a base, I see Garias as a merchant-marine sailing and doing guard duty for a ship or ships all along the Inner Sea/Varisia. Gorgol and Garias could have easily met during one or several sea voyages. Garias is a salt-of-the-earth kind of fellow who measures a man by his actions; all men are equals on the open sea. And he could have met anyone at any local watering hole where his crew had stopped to port. Garias has a grandfatherly attitude towards others, but doesn't brook much incompetence. He's older than most starting dwarves (120 or so), so while he's young by dwarf standards, he's got the "grizzled vet" demeanor down pat.

(I may model him after "Piney", the old chair-ridden biker with the oxygen tank as seen on Sons of Anarchy... in demeanor, that is.)

Haha okay... so are people making up their own start areas? Or is there a communal map I should be using for reference?

My above story still works, save that instead of the Inner Sea, it's "a place more or less like the Inner Sea". :)
