On The Origin of D&D Words

This is a great article--I just love this stuff. Increased vocabulary is just one of many things I gained from playing D&D from a young age. I still remember asking my parents what "the latter" and "the former" meant and their surprise at my question!

Just think about this one contribution of Gary Gygax's: How would things be different if he'd written the books with a simpler vocabulary? How many people did he influence with his writing style?

It was easy, he spelled Marbil backwards. Fred Marbil was the guy who had a bookstore in his town. It all fits, once you know the style.
