D&D (2024) One D&D Overly Complex

It is disappointment all around. The people who want to hang out are being pushed to play, and the people who want to play are fighting uphill to make that happen.
Right. Hangout folk are happy until they are told that their way is not appropriate for that session/campaign. And ultimately someone in that group is going to decide to end it. There are no villains in this scenario, just missed communication. In an ideal world, the group would have figured out their playstyles to make sure they were compatible. Session Zero could be used to test group compatibility based on what people want out of game sessions.

You're assuming that this problem happens every session. Sometimes, people just aren't in the mood to take the game seriously (or at least seriously enough).
