One new setting a year?

Hi
I know it was just a typo, but man Rubequest made me laugh out loud! Rubequest, Saga of the Turnip Farmer coming soon! :)
Thanks

And, in fact, instead of WotC trying to support all four settings in 4E -- and I don't believe that they will -- I'd prefer if they just picked one or two (Forgotten Realms and Greyhawk, realistically) and just gave us the coolest parts of the other settings in books that aren't setting-specific. If Castle Greyhawk is officially able to appear in any setting now (as per the end of Expedition), Castle Amber, the Isle of Dread (which has already been uprooted by Paizo), the Keep on the Borderlands (already uprooted by TSR) and other classic venues should be, too.

I get the feeling that these sorts of locations are going to end up being "somewhere" amongst the points of light; they'll be presented as generically and setting neutral as possible, so as to allow them to be dropped into any generic homebrew or published setting.

Well we know for sure that Forgotten Realms and Eberron are getting the 4e treatment. I would also like to see a 4e Ravenloft....(edit...oh and birthright)

Other than that I'd be interested in new settings (ie. the setting finalists that WotC has the rights to)

Would just Sigil satisfy most Planescape fans? Because I think that's a more likely scenario in 4E.

Interesting thought. Although if it's campaign world settings they're putting out, they could easily produce a Planescape setting based on The Great Wheel and make a lot of people very happy. It wouldn't be the default setting, but it would present a 4e campaign world idea that would sell.

While I like the new cosmology far, far, far, FAR, far far more than The Great Wheel, I would probably buy that setting for nostalgia's sake.

Also... I have very fond memories of the Planescape: Torment video game. Goes down as one of the most enjoyable computer RPGs I've ever played, next to Arcanum.

I'll believe this (one new setting a year) when I see it.

Ghostwalk was supposed to be a model for limited run settings, so this idea is not new. Of course, in its 3x incarnation, the idea went nowhere.

My opinion would be this is marketing driven "wishful thinking" to inspire hope among GH, RL, PS, DS etc. fans that 4e actually holds something for them. I don't believe it. Wotc has been so FR and Eberron ONLY for so long that I see nothing to motivate a sudden willingness to see 4, 5 or 6 settings all in play for 4e. Why the change of heart? What about "splitting the fanbase?"

I'll believe it when I see it and not one minute before. Wotc has ZERO credibility on the issue of more than two settings being supported.

They never said they'd be supporting the settings. They just said they'd be publishing one setting a year, with known ones being FR in 08 and Eberron in 09. They could easily do a one-off Dragonlance book again, and support it through Dragon. They same goes for any other settings that get enough customer support to warrant a book. It doesn't mean it'll get a full print run with supplements like FR or Eberron, but at least we get something.

But the source for this rumour is the same as the "three-tiered license" rumour, which has been thoroughly debunked, right? So I don't out much faith in it.

But a 4E Planescape/Sigil setting would be very nice!
