How familiar are you with the game? Because 2 players is a pretty small group and could require having another character played by the DM or have the players play more than one character, both cases being pretty hard to do for newish players (and a bunch of veterans to, if we're being honnest).

Id personnaly try my hand with the intro of the Lost Mines of Phandelver as a stand-alone quest.

Of not, many Adventure League quests a pretty good for short adventures playable in a single evening or two.

I ran Lost mines for 2 new players, (very contrary to my usual practice) I did throw in an NPC cleric as party support. It worked well. The first couple fights are surprisingly challenging for new players - which is not necessarily a bad thing.

If you're willing to go just a bit higher in level (around 5th) the one shot adventure A Wild Sheep Chase is whimsical fun and should be doable even with 2 players (though it will be a bit of a challenge if the fights are not adjusted down a bit).

we all have been playing for many years but this is my first time dming.

Splendid.

So, as said Lost Mines is very good for first DMs because it explains the how and the why of each section of the adventure; when to call for a check, how to check for surprise, how to do overland travel or award xp, etc.

If you have some budget, I'd recommend looking at the Arcane Library for one-shots. They are written by the acclaimed Kelsey Dione of Shadowdark fame and her adventures are often spoken as the best in term of presentation and layout for DM of any experience.

unfortunately i do not have the funds at the moment to buy anything and we ran lost mines with my husband dming and had a tpk roughtly half way through so dont really want to run it since we already know it.

If you have access to any 5e campaign, any chapter can be used standalone as a one-shot. Since you have few players and they are low-level, I'd suggest looking at the intro adventures of any hardback campaign, if possible.

i have access to a couple but one we already have done and the other isnt really new dm friendly from what ive been told. at least the version i have. there is a newer version that is.
Which one?

I'm also sure there's a lot of decent pay-what-you-want one shots on the DMs guild. The adventure league one shots may be free, I don't remember.

hoard of the dragon queen. and unfortunately right now im in a tight spot so im just trying to find free stuff for right now especially since im not sure if i will continue dming after this time.
