From these data it looks like the lifetime sales of 5.14 around three times as high as 5.24 thus far.

I meant like in the last few days vs the release day.
I get the other stuff.

These are really interesting numbers. Three things I notice.

1. The consistency in ratios between 2014 and 2024 books.

PHB (2024)/(2014) = 130/302 .430
MM (2024)/(2014) = 64/129 .496
DMG (2024)/(2014) = 88/197 .447

Since I think you'd expect the PHB to be the best continuous seller after initial release, the face it has the lowest ratio makes sense, but it's all still very close.

2. The consistency in numbers of the manor new rule books:

Xanathar 128
Tasha 124
PhB 2024 130

I suspect there's a lot of continuity between the actual customers for these three.

3. In that light, it's maybe relevant that the species books do less well:

Volo 83
MotM 38

The low numbers on MotM are particularly striking, and I wonder if that can be tied to other WOTC issues at the time.

Like I mention above, my store is very, very "mainstream".

Think this might be an effect of being a Canadian store, to some extent: Hasbro has the distribution network to make non-U.S. availability way more accessible than most other American game companies at this point.

Eyeballing the data it seems like for recent releases (so 5.5e and tail end of 5e) you tend to sell way more of the Exclusive / Alternate covers, while for the earlier 5e releases it doesn't seem to follow this trend as much

I'm wondering if that indicates DnD Beyond direct orders starting to dominate the market of players who just want the product at the cheapest price available, while collectors who are more willing to spend extra money preferring to support a local game store over WotC.
