Online fiction

Unfortunately, I find computer screens to be horrible for pleasure reading of fiction. If and when they come up with an e-reader that does the job well, I'll consider online fiction. Until then, I'd have to print it out, and that's usually not worth the bother.

Quoted for truth.

Well, mostly. If it's short enough I'll read it online.

Game book pdf's are ok, 'cause they tend to be more of a reference, rather than something I'm going to read cover to cover.

Fiction, if it has any significant depth, is usually too long to read at a screen, which is really a huge shame, considering the benefits the web's ease of publishing grants both author and reader. Roll on with the lcd paper.*

*My saying "roll on" does not imply I want lcd toilet paper, although it might come in handy.

What do you think about the development of fiction distribution and authors being able to make a living in the new digital age? I'm not really seeing much talk about online novels, perhaps because there's so little barrier to entry, even crappy authors can get published.
I don't really know much about how this is evolving. Reading from a screen can make some people's eyes bleed...

What if there was some sort of high-quality fiction website, which showcased new authors. Would anyone be interested, or are we all movie and TV junkies now?
Ah! Now here we go. If there was some kind of reputable authority on such things then that may get some attention, just like webcomics ("Go to gronkfiction.com, there is this really cool short story on wigets there!"). I would visit every so but the format would have to be very accessible.

I am really just not interested in paying for fiction, online. Print it, or else! :]
