Pathfinder 1E [ONLINE] Pathfinder: Worlds Largest Dungeon

Hmm, if I used either of those, I'd have to reduce the scores to 15 point buy. Still not sure what I want to try...

Let's go with the Pathfinder Point-buy system using the standard 15 point template. Let's stick to the core races/classes, I don't really want to have to worry about converting a Bestiary creature.

By "core" do you mean the PF player's races only? I used Aasimar from the monster section, and Wood Elf, which I guess isn't in PF (wtf Paizo?), but is in the SRD for 3.5, and a simple conversion*.

Are those unacceptable?

*Wood Elf has all elf qualities, plus these:
1. Favored Class changed from Wizard to Ranger. PF got rid of the 3.5 favored class system, so this can just be ignored.
2. +2 str and -2 int. Stacked with regular PF Elf stats, you end up with +2 str, +2 dex, -2 con.

That's it.

Blarg!

I really don't like the point buy system. I just feel personally that it generates generic stats that are like pre-gen characters, but anyway...

13, 14, 12, 12, 12, 11

Half-orc racial +2 (applied to strength)

str:15 dex:14 con:12 int:12 wis:12 chr:11

I'm fine with core races & classes only. Should we post final character info here or mail it to you privately?

I like point buy and hate rolling. But I hate the PF version compared to 3.5. PF is set up so that you can nuke your scores down to 7 and recieve bonus points for it. Further, the point values it uses for average, high powered, etc... are just plain lower than the 3.5 values, especially since now the price jumps up in cost at 14 instead of 15. You basically have to nerf down some of your stats to get something as simple as a set of 14's for a multiple ability dependent class, while as I never felt comfortable lowering things below 8, and generally tired for at least 10's in anything. Point buy doesn't have to make for generic stats, though. Some people will value an extra bonus in the primary stat more than others. Some are more willing to have low scores in unimportant scores. Some end up with remaining points such that they go with an odd score in the highest stat so they can even it out as soon as they hit level 4. And racial choice always messes with it.

Aaaaaaaanyway...

Even if you do melee and I did ranged, two rangers is kinda pointless. So archer is out. I think I'm just going to stat up characters for a while and see what I like. And if the party has a gaping hole, I can just cover that.

Yeah, I suppose that's fine then. I was just worried you would pick a gelatanous cube or something crazy like that. :D

Could you all just email me your stats? I'll keep track of it better that way.

If you don't want to do PF point-buy, I'm fine using the standard 6 roll, drop the lowest format as well. I just want us all to agree on something that's fair. I'm just going by the honor system here, I'm not going to be verifying everyone's stats or anything like that.

Don't take my mathematical critique of PF point buy to mean I'd rather roll for stats. Any point buy is better than rolling! :)

Ok. So got a Cleric and a melee Ranger. I'm going to go with Paladin, I think. Modified the original Aasimar build to 15 point buy, just need to tweak it some more. It'd be great if I could swap a class skill for Intimidate and get Intimidate-based feats. If not, I can probably fill up my feat slots with other stuff.

Whoever the 4th person is, looks like we need an arcanist or rogue, if you're willing.

I'm going to be hosting the Gametable software for the next week to give us all a chance to get used to it. I'm up and running right now @ 192.168.0.2 port:6812 password ENWorld.

I'll be up for a few hours tonight so log in.

EDIT: I stopped hosting for tonight.

Anyone know what stats mules have in PF? The PRD has no listing for them, even though they're in the equipment table. In 3., for 8 gp plus the price of some gear, they were generally worth getting early on (CR 1 creature for 8 gp? Craaaaazy.). I'm sure PF would have nerfed them, but no idea how much.

Yep!

You have found one of the several oversights Pazio left out of the core PF rule book. At least as far as I can tell there are no stats on movement, carry weights, ect. for pack animals. IDK what Lumin wants to do but I generally just use the rules from D&D 3.5 for such animals.
