Hmm. If it had been a top 10, it would have been extremly easy.

1.Mutants and Masterminds 2e
2.Ultimate Power
3.True20: This is going to replace all systems for my non-superhero gaming. I just need to buy a copy :P
4. Blood and Fists: I might be moving away from d20M, but this is one of my favorite rpg supplements.

5-6: 2 of the following:
Psychic's Handbook: One of my favorite rpg supplements.
Shaman's Handbook: One of my favorite rpg supplements.
Witch's Handbook: One of my favorite rpg supplements.
True20 Companion
True20 Bestiary: need monsters for fantasy rpging when I switch to True20

Note: If I was still going to play d20M, Elements of Magic: ME would be on my list of options to fill slots 5-6

Well since everyone else is cheating and using the SRD as 1 book here are my top 6.

  1. SRD
  2. Spell Compendium
  3. DMG 2
  4. PHB 2
  5. Shackled City Hardcover
  6. Ptolus

If we could include non-D20 stuff on there then the Feng Shui, Paranoia XP and Toon main rulebooks would replace The DMG 2, Spell Compendium and Ptolus just to give me a wider range of games to play.

Assuming you have dice, pens, paper, miniatures (if that's your thing), survival gear, & provisions, what 6 and only 6 d20/OGL books would you grab?

the 6 largest.

my guess would be 6 copies of Ptolus.

you never know when you are gonna be rescued. so stocking up on tp is always a good idea.

my hat of d02 knows no limits

CMG SRD 3.5 Revised

Excellent choice, sir! Currently 20% off for our Five Year Anniversary! :)

I guess having the SRD in there does free up a couple of slots. It's like saying, "Core Rules plus Five." Beyond that I would have a tough time just picking five but, since I have my own setting of thirty years and though I am primarily a Heroic Medieval/Fantasy fan, some likely candidates would be (alphabetically) -

A Magical Medieval Society: Western Europe from Expeditious Retreat
The Book of the Righteous from Green Ronin
Dynasties and Demagogues from Atlas Games
Fields of Blood: The Book of War from Eden Studios
From Stone to Steel from MonkeyGod

I could easily add another five or more to this list including a couple of others from Atlas (Crime & Punishment, Love & War, Nyambe), Fantasy Flight (Cityworks, Dungeoncraft, Seafarers Handbook, Traps & Treachery I & II, Wildscape), Green Ronin (The Advanced Series, Medieval Players Manual), Second World Simulations (Second World Sourcebook), WotC (DMG II), and others.

If I dumped one of my "gamer pals" overboard, would there be room for more books, a portable generator, and a laptop computer? :)

It's the end of the year again and time to re-assess what I am actually playing or want to play in the near future. To help evaluate and purge the current game shelf, I often turn to the "cast away" scenario. You are about to be indefinitely stranded on a remote island with gamer pals. Assuming you have dice, pens, paper, miniatures (if that's your thing), survival gear, & provisions, what 6 and only 6 d20/OGL books would you grab?

My current choices (subject to constant strain from GADD -- Gamer Attention Deficit Disorder):

1 Mutants & Masterminds 2nd Ed.
2 Traveller T20
3 Iron Heroes
4 Iron Heroes Bestiary
5 Spycraft 2.0 (1st printing to be replaced by 2nd printing in 2007)
6 Star Wars RCR (to be replaced by Saga edition in 2007)

I also like a lot of indie stuff and old-school stuff, but I'm spotlighting d20/OGL stuff at the moment.
What are your current choices?

Ok, here are mine:

1. Traveller T20
2. PHB
3. DMG
4. MMI
5. Conan
6. UA (though I think I almost have the book memorized)

Good to see other Traveller T20 fans out there!

Rich

1) The SRD - printed and bound, since it gets windy on the island
2) Ptolus - for the sheer magnitude of great setting stuff
3) M&M 2E - light-ish rules, flexible, fun and can be used for more than Supers
4) Rappan Athuk: Reloaded - enough dungeon to last a lifetime
5) Spell Compendium

The SRDs for d20, d20 Modern, d20 Future, and as many empty notebooks as I am allowed. (And a bunch of mechanical pencils.)

So much fun writing new stuff... :)

Cheers, -- N

Hmmmm, 6 huh?

All right, let's start with the cheat choice:
1. SRD printed and bound
2. Tome of Magic
3. Tome of Battle
4. Ptolus
5. Advanced Bestiary (Green Ronin: this gives you endless options for creating monsters)
6. Magic of Incarnum

(I am currently running a game with almost no standard spellcasting but with all of the 'magic-like' options.)
