D&D 5E (2014) (OOC) (5E) The Village

I'm feeling the tiefling more too.

Artillery mage, I think. Yes. And a good 'face' as well.

"So the horns... are those for mating display with others of your kind? Or just for itching those hard to reach places?"

Somebody had to volunteer himself as party comedian. Taking a bullet for the team here. You're welcome. ;)

Greenmtn Your paladin apparently is touched by the divine! Go standard PHB human, and start with 14+ in all your stats!

I'll be hiding between your character and Charwoman Gene's, thank you very much :)

Right. I have never seen the same number so many times before. Makes it a little more interesting to try and flesh him out.
I suppose I could switch to human, I hadn't thought about that. Race isn't too important to his story, really any race that could have a feudal government and militia/armies, and I haven't developed his description well.

Kiraya_TiDrekan I get the impression you have gods for this world already. Any chance I could get info on a few of them, seems they are going to be an important part of my character?

Bahaha

Word of advice: Invest in an item that provides fire resistance. :)

"It was friendly fire!"

"She looked directly at me and said 'I'll burninate you, green tights' before setting my arse on fire."

"What? Nonsense! I was clearly talking to the zombie wearing green tights."

"Hey, Quickleaf, at least Shayuri didn't 'miss' with a magic missile."

Oh you can hide behind Lal too, but bring some noze plugs.... :D

There really is a disparity here, but I'm okay with that. My character concept doesn't need very good stats to work, and once I get a few levels and a bit of armor Lal should be durable enough. That's the thing with rolling, you gotta go with it :)

Still tinkering...notably haven't picked a name yet. Background is still in a BIT of flux, but the gist of it is that the character grew up in the care of a church-sponsored orphanage, having been given up as an infant. Hers is not a tragic tale of woe though...the priests and nuns of the orphanage were stern but fair, and while life there wasn't fun and games nor was it a descent into despair and depravity. She wasn't even the only tiefling there.

She seized on the notion that she'd been cursed early on though, and believes that if she can undo this curse it will also change her back into a normal person. When younger, she used to hope she could find her real parents again after that. Nowadays she's less fixated on it...though she would kind of like to show up, uncursed, and confront them with that.

The men and women who run the orphanage were very clear in explaining that even if there was a curse involved somehow in her making, it wasn't the kind of curse that could be broken. Tieflings are born, not made, and while they must struggle to overcome their deeper natures and stay in the light they are only freed from their flesh at the same moment anyone else is...in the death following a life well-lived.

She refused to accept that though. With no concrete guide on how to undo a curse like that, she reasoned that the key must lie in doing good...refuting the darkness of the curse with deeds. She sort of fell into the idea of prowling the streets by night and hunting down thieves and ne'er-do-wells, and it's not going too badly so far.

But sometimes a target is more personal...and this one left the city, hoping she wouldn't follow.

Better luck next time, scum!

In mechanical terms the character is straight up artillimage, or will be. Heavy reliance on fire magic means I'll probably take Elemental Adept at 4, if we get that far. Though the Sorcerous Origin is Draconic, I'm flavoring it as more of an infernal set of traits than dragon-related.

Ok so our crew - THE NINE WALKERS :O - are as follow:

Tglassy: drow wizard charlatan (necro?)
JustinCase: also a drow, brother to the above, archfey warlock criminal
River Song: Cleric, cloistered scholar, knowledge domain, human
Shayuri: thiefling (urban bounty hunter) draconic sorceror
Ancalagon: Barbarian hermit
Charwoman Gene: Human fighter folk hero
Quickleaf: wood-elf Rogue outlander
Industrygothica: Elven druid outlander
Greenmtn: Half/elf (or human?) Paladin Soldier

The next question... who's a local, and who's from "the rescue party?"

Locals: the rogue (sort of), the druid, the fighter, the cleric

Outsider: The drow brothers, the barbarian, the sorcerer (?),

Did I get this right?

I'm not sure if the Paladin is an outsider or a local though

Right. I have never seen the same number so many times before. Makes it a little more interesting to try and flesh him out.

Each major region has a different pantheon (all of the pantheons in the PHB, plus the Dawn War pantheon in the DMG), with some notable gods missing here and there (The Raven Queen, for example, hasn't been seen or heard from since the end of the Age of Darkness). The current era is referred to as the Age of Dragons.
Shayuri, Elemental Adept? Urban Bounty Hunter? I'm sticking to PHB only, as you might recall. ;)
