Lal wouldn't have an inherent distrust of drow elves as he comes from a land with a lot of racial diversity *but* no elves. So to him they are just one big wondrous group :)

In fact... being a complete foreigner explains the low int and cha scores, it's a "penalty" due to a lifetime of experience and education suddenly being 90% useless. *Everything* is different! Language, courtesies, plants, seasons, basic beliefs about life etc etc.

Ok, my guy is done. I chose the Charlatan background, for obvious reasons. I also managed to get the hand crossbow and a rapier, which meant I had to go with a simple explorer's pouch and couldn't get a signet ring, but oh well.

Half his spells are ritual spells, one of which is Unseen Servant. He almost always has an Unseen Servant around, doing his laundry, mending his things, pouring his wine. He also has a Bat familiar, mainly to help with sunlight. His bat stays in a pocket on his shirt at most times, and when he's in a situation where he can't see, or can't see well, such as in direct sunlight, he switches to his Bat's senses, which gives him blindsight for up to 60 feet, and since it's in his pocket, it shouldn't bee too disorienting for him, it just has to stick its head out. He'll sometimes do that, anyway, letting his bat fly around, letting him spy on people.

Let me know if any of that is a problem. He has no name, yet.

tglassy Ha, that is very close to my concept of his world view and I love the idea of us being brothers who have a similar yet very different approach to life. :)

The character I'm thinking is a rogue of sorts. He's based heavily on Jarlaxle of the Drizzt novels.

I'm a big fan of Jarlaxle. Which explains why we came up with similar concepts. :)

@JustinCase, what kind of character were you thinking? They can still be brothers, and if so I'd want to work out their relationship before starting.

Roguish would be a good way of describing Niimyr; a lazy scoundrel who likes to brag about his prowess on the fields of magic, dueling and romance, while trying his best to avoid any hard work. Which is why he dropped out of wizard school while his (younger?) brother stayed on and excelled, displeasing the noble family they both belong to. Fleeing their mother's temper and whip, Niimyr ran away with some commonborn drow males but somehow ventured into part of the Feywild (Feydark?).

A mysterious and powerful fey was intrigued by the dark elf. His companions were either killed or teleported to gods-know-where, Niimyr recalls little more than confusing images and bizarre dreamscapes until the moment he awoke back in his bed, his arms and torso covered in strange tattoos of vines and animals he did not recognize. And of course, magic at his fingertips to command.

He found a book under his pillow; strange but elegant, with a small flower on the cover that seemed to live and change color as if triggered by some event or atmosphere, the pages covered with markings that are indecipherable but seem like only just beyond his grasp. A gift from his new patron, although to what end, he does not know.

Idea 1 - Monk who is part of an order that believes that Law is everything, not the laws that kings and queens make, but the bigger picture laws that make chaos take form, water flows down, earth is solid, fire burns, life begins and ends. Bending these laws in not only acceptable but encouraged to keep chaos from destroying everything but the laws must not be broken. Chaos must be kept in check but not destroyed for without it the laws have no meaning. Interested in what is causing is breaking the laws of existence and causing these undead.
Philosophical and judges people more for their thoughts than their actions he believes that if you understand enough about the laws of the universe you could bend them to control small parts of it and hold back the chaos.

Idea 2 - A Soldier who having seen the horrors of war and the death it brings retired to an Abby to try to find peace and escape the screams and faces of his dying friends. through a series of events out of his control ends up helping to defend the church he was training at from a raid/attack only to find that his gods channeled their might through his blows. He felt compelled to to put on his armor again and serve the gods rather than an ambitious ruler.
Moral, Dedicated and haunted by his own daemons, he is a man of few words, slow to draw his weapon but has no problem killing those that force him to do so. Distrusting of the motives of Nobles and Politicians having seen how quickly they are willing to send others to die for their whims.

Hey, since Willow is also a wood elf, how do you feel about a connection between our PCs? Whoever stole the Emerald Eye from his clan may have, deliberately or inadvertently, triggered the undead attacks on Willow's people. And since the theft happened on Quickleaf's "watch", he is at least in part to blame.

That sounds delightfully intriguing. Wouldn't mind exploring that at all.

You drow guys... when I read your characters I immediately think of Pharaun Mizzrym from the War of the Spider Queen series. This is not a bad thing! One of my favorite characters ever.
