OOC Thread_In the Tall, Dark Pines: a Tale of Braxus

I will be off the computer the rest of the day. Are we getting together on 8 pm Tuesday like last week? If so, Scadgrad, please email and let me know. I will try to be able to participate, but I will be on a business trip and am not sure what type of i-net connection I will have. I will be home on Monday, Thursday, and Friday of next week.

PurpleKnight,

I'll try to post a bit both tomorrow night & Tuesday night. Both nights it'll be late though, something like 10ish EST.

Everyone else,

Just jump in on the Playing the Game thread whenever you wish to. Several of the others have been posting & you can just assume that you are altogether with the larger group, having joined w/ William and Scathach to seek your fortunes.

Aargghh!

Sorry guys, I just ASSUMED everyone would find the thread or be watching for it. Thanks for posting the link Vargo.

Silly DM. DM is hit for 35 pips of damage. He staggers, falls and rolls in agony...lather, rinse, repeat

Relating to what's happening IC now... I'm trying not to be a spotlight hog for the scene I'm in at the moment. I'm wondering if my two companions are quiet because they're not around OOC, or if they just don't think it's appropriate for their characters to speak?

If they're letting me be the spokesman, I'll happily verbally spar with the chamberlain by myself. =]

Not sure about that either Nameless. Still your character is blessed w/ high charisma & the folk of this land are very fearful of the Sidhe, so it makes sense either way.

Ditto here. My character is good at two things in social situations:

1. Thinking up smart things to say and
2. Botching the delivery. :D

Hey Gang,

Sorry for the lag. Memorial day weekend took me away from the computer for several days (burried at work all day Tues & today). I'll sum up both encounters & bring the party together tomorrow AM. Thanks for hanging in there.

Groylkyn_What characters w/ Knowledge Local (any of the lands on the continent) or Knowledge Nature of 3 ranks would know:

Groylkyn are a race of canine-like bipeds. They are extremely rare in the west, but common in the lands of Necrovidia and Carpacia. These creatures were once men or fey, scholars are not really sure which. Cursed by the Green Man, they haunt the deep woods and are a violent race of carnivores.

Knowledge Nature or Local of 5 ranks:

Groylkyn were at one time shapeshifting fey quite similar to the Pooka, but some unknown curse was visited upon them by the Old Gods during the Dawning Days. They are now estranged from the fey and seem to have forgotten any ties that they might have once held w/ either seelie or unseelie.

Groylkyn value the warrior code and are skilled combatants. They typically employ large, slashing flint knives (count as short swords) and fight with one in either hand. The largest Groylkyn stand over 7 feet tall and weigh in excess of 300 pounds. Smaller specimens are around the same size as a man.

Groylkyn organize themselves in large packs. Living on the outskirts of these packs are often smaller groups of Groylkyn known simply as ferals. These cast offs are usually poorly equipped and scarred from continual squabbles and in-fighting.

Groylkyn have their own language, but it is a tongue no human could ever master. They can often communicate in Darkspeak though their dialect is very primitive. To the men of Braxus, the Groylkyn are among the most alien of creatures. Many of their rituals are bizarre by human standards and communications between the two races are almost impossible. The situation is made worse by the Groylkyn's proclivity for eating humans. These beasts have been the creatures of nightmare for the Dortish tribes for generations untold. In the forests of Carpacia and Necrovidia, entire villages have been known to disappear overnight at the hands of these ravenous fiends.

OOC_A look behind the curtain...

Groylkyn are similar to Gnolls of the core game. They have a different background in Braxus and have more variety in terms of their size. They also fight differently and are woodland creatures unlike their core Gnoll counterparts.
