Personally I can't stop laughing. That's the funniest thing I've read in while. I can't exactly explain why, but I have a dark sense of humor, and well done the realization of the crushing hand of inevitable fate can be hilarious.

Bravo Rich. Tarquin is one of the best villains I've seen in quite a while. He knows he's doomed to fall eventually but he's happy to accept that as part of the bargain in enjoying ruling for a couple of decades. What a hilarious outlook!

Even better yet, Tarquin knows his tropes and is perfectly happy being the villain because everyone thinks the bad guy is badass and admires him. Plus he gets to live the good life and get all the villain perks. Meanwhile, Elan has to go through all the Hero's trials.
