I'm pretty sure Haley was in a situation where she didn't expect a dagger in her back. Being seduced is sufficient for a sneak attack in OotS as previously demonstrated by... Haley.

I must say, though, Haley has suffered a pretty hefty "I want to believe" penalty on her Sense Motive. Given how she treasured that Sense Motive, maybe she crashes even more, and from now on there'll be two layers of encryption.

nope, 4th level rogue ability, uncanny dodge. Haley retains her dex bonus even when flatfooted or suprized. Nale could be invisible and he still wouldn't get sneak attack on her.

(the teen goblin was 3rd level max, no uncanny dodge.)

(I'd love to see a strip where he shouts "sneak attack" and haley sags dead... then straightens up and says "wait, I have uncanny dodge!" like the early "bad with numbers" gag with durkon.)

well, it's initiative time. haley could hand nale a can of whoop a$$ empty-handed if she wins initiative, which she should have a good chance of doing. even into the second round too, if he remains flanked.

Well, without the interruption, Nale would have succeeded, which would result in Haley getting a dagger into her back (which might count as a coup-de-grace), which, pending damage dealt, could have killed her. Now you could say that death makes a great cure-all, but she'd have little mind that could be blown to pieces, at least not connected to her body.

A REAL assassin would seduce her, then reveal his deception, then murder her while she's in shock. Come on, now... if Nale is Elan's opposite, then he should be James Bond to Elan's Inspector Gadget. *lol*
