Xykon and Redcloak should be included in the 4E Player's Handbook as iconic exemplars of CE and LE alignments. They're that good.

I can't help wondering if we're about to see a betrayal of Xykon and the (attempted) ascension of Redcloak as primary villain.
What's to wonder? I thought it was pretty much obvious that this was was Redcloak was up to. In fact, I took that to be the whole point of this strip.

Y'know, another thing about Xykon is that he really reminds me of Bender from Futurama. Especially that "HA HA HA HA HA, it's funny 'cause it's true" bit. Weird :p:D

Something to remember, Redcloak is the actual king of the hobgobs. He just pretended that the other guy was king. He might want a little pay back.

If Xykon's so bored with military planning, why doesn't he just tell Redcloak "Ok, you arrange the troops as you see fit, just don't bother me while I'm watching my Crystal Ball, ok?"

That's how a chaotic good commander would handle things, definitely. Chaotic Evil means never having to not be snarky.

And I also took the last few panels as a sign that Redcloak plans to betray Xykon in the upcoming battle. Should be interesting!

Previously, Xykon's voice in my head had always been that of Emperor Zerg from the Buzz Lightyear cartoons -- don't ask.

But now for a little while at least, he's going to be talking like Bender.

I took it to mean that he's going to disguise a lot of skeletons to look like Xykon, to draw and waste the defender's firepower.

If Recloak really wanted to take down Xykon, he should have done it before he reformed. He is the holder of the philactery after all.

Redcloak has been getting more and more frustrated with Xykon since the lich was blown to bits the first time...it wouldn't surprise me much if he's finally reached the point where he's had enough. I'd be a little surprised, though.
