Or did someone cast haste on him while I wasn't looking?

Maybe he was fighting for several rounds. I doubt Xykon failed to cast defensive spells that morning.

I think all the OOTS members are 13th-level (and Elan might have "delayed" a level, letting him pick up a cool class).

Oh, yes, and I agree that factor three was definitely Xykon's most compelling one. Certainly it's the one that made the greatest impression on Roy.

Though I believe factor four is about to make a bigger impression (barring some of the alternatives suggested so far).
