OotS 464

Thought this strip was a good end for the Miko storyline. Not too trite, either way. It's now very important whether O-chul can come back to tell the OotS what he knows, though.

FWIW, I expect Roy to be raised, since he's a PC. But I wouldn't be surprised at a strip or two detailing his (brief so far) afterlife.

It's time for Miko's swan song :(
This fits comic #464 in particular and works very well as a theme for Miko, right down to the title: "Earthly Illusions"

Note the link goes to a front page so that their ads get a chance to display. They have this annoying setup where you can't direct link to the music file. Anyway, in the middle column look for the 'Download to Computer' link.

The song is from Nobunaga's Ambition 20th Anniversary Sound Collection - and this particular track is performed by the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. The 3rd track, "Fight Under the Heavens" fits the whole Azure City story arc pretty well.

Hope you guys enjoy it.

Dude, it's a comic strip. Lighten up.
Dude, its a messageboard, don't assume anyone needs to lighten up for what they took a minute to type. I might not agree with Peni's absolute phrasing, but she took from the strip what she did and doesn't need to be insulted for it.

What? Should he have simply submitted to her, not opposed her? He should have been submissive before the hate-filled cow? Someone should have told her off long, long ago.
No, not at all. The way it was done was just not very good. If he had points to make or just a simple refusal, I might have been rooting for Roy, but what he basically said was "You're totally a bitch". Pretty juvenile. It made me lose interest in the character.

Rich has managed to ruin every character except Durkon for me with his writing, and I suspect that's only because Durkon gets so little screen time.
Well if that's the case, then it looks like you'll have gained some time for reading stuff you do like and not posting about the Order of the Stick since you don't like it and you're not reading it anymore.

Or is there a masochistic reason you read something you don't like?

Or are you being melodramatic? Hyperbole, perhaps?

I wasn't insulting Peni. He/she was insulting people who dislike Miko by claiming that they dislike her because they have the same personality flaws that she does. Hence, my reminder that this is just a comic strip and my suggestion to lighten up.

The reason behind my dislike for Miko can be boiled down to three words: She's not funny. And that is the only unforgivable sin for a comic strip character.

I liked Roy up until a strip was dedicated to him telling off Miko.
What, you didn't enjoy that beating a little more than is healthy?

I see Miko as going to Arcadia rather than Celestia, myself. Not Baator or Gehenna, though. She may have gone insane, but she's no Aribeth.

Edit: But, JustKim, she was a total bitch.

When did her horse die?

He didn't, but being a paladin's special mount, he normally resides on the "celestial plane", until summoned for use.

The second I saw Soon reveal he knew how to end Xykon's life once and for all, I knew there was no way he'd be around to tell that to the Order.

Soon was simply referring to fact that he had both Xykon and Redcloak, who is caring for Xykin's phylactery, laid out on the floor. Two or three more rounds, and they'd both have been dead and the phylactery destroyed, thus ending Xykon's shenanegans for good.

And before I forget...

That's something I didn't expect. Forgiveness but not atonement?

Why is everyone talking about forgiveness? Miko hasn't been forgiven.

"True redemption demands that you seek forgivness for your past misdeeds. That you atone for the actions that caused the Twelve Gods to turn away from you. That you even acknowledge that you could, in fact, be wrong. You have done none of this."

It was a good end for her. I loved to hate her, but with this strip, I clearly saw her for what she was: human. And as such, I can find no better honor for her then a moment of silence.

Ok that's enough. IIRC, one of the requirements for someone to end the LG heaven is to seek forgiveness; she never did. Even in her death, she still didn't. As such.... I really do wonder where she will go.

Miko was a total bitch. Telling someone how things are isn't juvenile.
