Definitely a "What was I thinking when I gave the player that thing" moment.

I recall waaay back in 1st edition my brother was DMing and gave my wizard a ring that doubled all his spells (like a super ring of wizardry), let him fly at will, deflected arrows, and shot beams of energy that did 1d20 damage.

A few games later I got attacked by a bunch of yuan-ti armed with rods of cancellation.

So, at least 9 levels of Ranger, then. Huh.

Either that or my personal pet theory that he's Ranger 1 / Rogue X / Barbarian 1.

All in all, decent strip. Needs much more killing, though.

I've seen several people mention that Belkar has at least one level in barbarian. But I seem to remember that he went and checked out the barbarian school and decided it wasn't for him.

I haven't seen him rage, anyway (other than his usual psychotic behavior) and he's certainly had the opportunity to do so. Usually when a class ability is used, the name is used: The ghost of Soon yelling "Smite Evil", Redcloak saying "Turn undead (kinda)", etc.

So does Belkar have a barbarian level, or not?

The hobgoblins were probably talking about the Sopranos.

In 3.0, rangers did not get evasion, so Belkar probably didn't know that he had it.

Edit: Oh, and the Order is 13th level based on V's using Mass spells on 13 targets.

We've only seen one 'Rage' usage IIRC:

Thog when he and Elan escaped from prison.

Thog turned a darker shade of green and ripped out of his clothes... He didnt yell: "Rage!"

He did, however, say: "Why Thog angry again?" afterwards... implying that Rage is involuntary.. or that Thog is too dumb to realize when he's using a class feature...

I prefer the latter answer, but then Thog is smart enough to only have the two worthwhile levels of fighter XD

[edit]

I'm wrong...

Thog Specifically says: "Thog Rage" before getting greener and shirtless.
