OOTS 496: Responsible

More reasons Roy (and we, too) hate Roy's dad.
you just know a good writer will make you hate the guy, but then right when your ready to snap his neck, some revelation occurs and more information is learned, and you cant quite hate him anymore. Thats my prediction anyway.

Its how you mess with your audience, and this order of the stick fellow tends to do that alot.

Just when we were beginning to think that "everything in heaven is so uptight and/or awkward that Roy will be glad to leave"...
Yeah, setting up the inevitable rejection of the rez spell (at least at first). the question is, will is friends have to go up to heaven and drag him back or will Roy come to his senses right at the very last moment....?

Well, Roy knows about the revolving door (presumably his baby brother didn't so he didn't know to answer the resurrection because he would be going back one day), he knows he's going to Heaven, where he will be back with his mother . . .and his long lost baby brother. He knows if he falls in battle to Xykon he is going through the revolving door for a stay with the family for a day or so.

This could be where Roy loses a lot of his guilt, at least subconsciously, and also gains even more courage as he has absolutely no fear of death.

He might lose a Character Level, but the character became more powerful from the experience.

The dialogue that transpires between box 4 and 5 really has me wondering...

Box 4:

Roy: "He's- He's here???"
Roy's Mom: "Yes. Has been for 18 years, apparently."

Then box 5:

Roy's Archon: "I don't understand. I wasn't briefed on any-"
Roy: "Stay here."
Roy's Archon: "But I'm supposed to-"
Roy: "STAY!"

Is it me, or does something not sit well with these conversations? What does Roy's mom mean by "apparently"? And why would Roy's Archon, the guide that was assigned to him, not know about Roy's little brother?

I got a bad feeling about this...

The brother died 18 years ago, the mother died 3 years ago. So, she doesn't know for certain that he has been here for 18 years but it is what she extrapolated. I guess that makes it his house rather than the mother's, actually.

As to why the archon didn't know about the brother, no idea.

Plus, since he can't answer, she can't ask Baby Brother if he had to wait in some other place before going to the mountain.

I wonder... was he at the Mount Celestia Daycare Center until his momma came up (reeeally up) to get him?

I thought you had sworn off OotS.
:p All the vague comments got me wondering what this one was about.

(and "sworn off" implies some totally not felt anger or drama, it just has largely lost my interest.)

Clearly Eugene was a heroic and ardent LG in his adventuring career such that he has earned the right hang out in the Waiting Room of Heaven for the blood oath to be fulfilled.

The recent reveals regarding Eugene's disturbingly CN relationship with his family seemed to have been forgiven for some good reason.

Nope. It's the reason he's kept outside... as the winged girlie said, if Eugene would have died trying to fulfill his blood oath, he would be inside.
