OOTS #549 is Up

Yeah, I'm having a hard time seeing evil-aligned out of the monster, but I may be forgetting something vile that he's done or participated in up till now. Good-aligned? Maybe. But I agree I think he just wants everyone to be friends.

The monster gets meat stew and watery gruel, both of which he likes. O-Chul gets meat stew, which he likes.

That's how I took it.

I think the box monster is at the very least, a utilitarian. I'm not sure what alignment that translates to.

I also think that O-Chuul may end up being boxies' ticket to freedom as well.

IMO, the funniest line was "Hello? Mommy?"

But my sense of humor might be warped.
My favorite line, also. :D

I think I agree with CN for MitD, also. Don't know if O-Chul can get him out of there, though; Xykon probably has some compulsions on it against escaping...

I think its too powerful for any non epic spell to do anything to him. But "Xykon said not to." might be enough for him to not go with Mr. Stiffly.

Nah, in Start of Darkness (spoilers!)
Xykon clearly casts a successful compulsion on it to eat Redcloak in certain circumstances.
But I guess it could have been epic... You're right about "Xykon said" also, of course. Wonderful character, that monster. :D

Not knowing what the monster is is part of the fun of OotS. I hope we don't find out for a long time.

Myself and my friends who both play D&D and major in Philosophy seem to hold consensus that Utilitarianism is roughly CG or NG. If you really don't like Utilitarianism and dwell on its potential negatives, it likely ends up being LE.

Well, if Miko can survive being chucked through masonry to land miles away by The Monster In The Box, O-Chuul's a shoo-in. :D
