That fits at most half the prophesy; you're using a HUGE sledgehammer to make it kinda-sorta look like it fits the other half.

• In no sense is saying those words the means by which s/he recieves the power
• S/he didn't say those words to anyone, much less to a plausible candidate for the "right being".

Doesn't work. We already know the Oracle doesn't go for the kind of tortured readings it takes to make it work.

Also note this is not the contract Quar was talking about even he said "thats weird" and "not exactly" when referring to the envelope... maybe the implementation of taint? OotS will be using Book of Vile Darkness now?

I think he said "that's weird" because he wasn't expecting such a quick reply, and "not exactly" is referring to V's asking if it is the application form, not the contract. Judging by the envelope, I think this is almost definitely the contract.

A devil is the right person/creature? (at the right time?) Saving Vs family is all the wrong reasons? Doesn't fit to me.

I have to admit that the situation is keeping me guessing.

For example, at the very least V needs the power to teleport. As well as he knows his home I doubt he needs teleport without error. Yet what template or prestige class grants teleport? Not half-fiend or lich - which were my first guesses. Another idea is that V might actually become a type of devil. Several grant teleport without error as a feature, as I recall (although Imp is not one of them - which suggests that perhaps Quar might be more than he seems).

I suppose V could always gain from the devils a level of Archmage and the spell teleport. Then he could use the first level of High Arcana from Archmage to gain "spell like ability" (2x per day, in exchange for a permanent loss of a 5th level slot) to make teleport his spell like ability. But that seems a very round about way to accomplish this, and I think the spell has to be lower than the slot lost. Teleport, being 5th level itself, would thus not apply.

Or maybe they can offer him a 'special' Prestige class option, such as the deal Elan got in OotS 390

No more than the current Credit Companies when they keep sending 18 year olds credit cards with limits of 5 thousand+ or when they start expanding the credit limit of college students

Beside Devils are such tricky bastards that i wouldnt be surprised if the catch is "yes the envelope has none of those, we never said the actual credit contract didnt, just that the envelope was free of those"
