Actually it has been said time and again that the soul splice did not in any way affect Vs decision making process.
And he got into that contract willingly, knowing the consequences of it while a alternative was available.
That alone should be good enough for a divorce.
(And I am sure one or more of the devils would be very eager to testify in the court. That would be the lawful thing to do. And evil).

But the court doesn't know that:P

So...aside from V getting the divorce, (s)he is ALSO not getting the diamond dust the party desperately needs?

I really don't get it, though. Just have someone else come get it before it sells. Haley obviously knows what diamonds look like...

EDIT: Is this the first time Rich has used a copyrighted name for a spell? I recall EVAN's spiked tentacles of forced intrusion, instead of Evard's.
Have we figured out what the diamond dust is for yet?

I haven't seen any guesses. It involves Durkon, though, and is of "universal importance" -- maybe a symbol or resurrection? Not sure who they would need to resurrect, though.

Well, it is always better to have it on hand than to have to run back to town to get it. That said, protection from spells would be useful against Xylon. Nondetection would keep him from magically tracking them. Undeath to death wouldn't hurt, though it targets will, so is unlikely to work.

I'm sure it is intentional considering the nature of the strip. Indeed a legal threat coming out of Wotc over a comic poking fun at a legal system would not only increase publicity and readership, but it would also be another joke in and of itself.
