Course the Free City of Doom is just getting what it deserves by ignoring the old adage of "know thy enemy". If they had anything even remotely resembling a spy network, they'd know the Empires of Blood and Tears were working together. They should have petitioned the Empire of Sweat instead.

And besides, any domain calling itself the "Free City of Doom" isn't likely to be good-aligned. They probably deserved it.
