Ooze LA?

Thanks for the info Nifft! The drasite would open up a lot of class options with its low LA (whether its 0, 1 or, 2).

The character comcept I have in mind has only been sentient for a couple of months, however. Also the campaign allows Savage Species monster levels. So I'm looking at taking a really high LA ooze, breaking down its abilities across a whole bunch of levels and then taking the first eight.
Hmm...I bet you could make monster levels for the living spell idea. If you just had fireball and not the tentacles (imo the LA would be much higher for two spells in one since you can use both at once with the same action), it would probably be something like 5 Ooze HD and +5 or +6 LA. What I'd do is make the infused spell not applicable at will until the max monster level.

Let's see, starting at level 9... what kind of oozy features do you want?

What if you were not actually an ooze, but rather some sort of thing that rides / controls an ooze? IMC there is a crystal mask that can posess any creature, and one day its 'ride' was eaten by a black ooze. Now the crystal mask (which has psionic powers, of course, because it's like totally crystal and stuff) is a mercenary for a certain underworld arch-nemesis... anyway. You could do something like that, and trade up to a better ooze when you get to higher level. :)

Maybe start with a Grey Ooze 'ride' and one level of Psion. (See 'brain in a jar' for a similar idea -- a flying undead / construct thing with some mental powers -- I think it's in Libris Mortis.)

I'll bet Crothian would know. :)

If you don't want to go with the Fused Aberation route to give it intelligence, you could go with the awaken ooze spell on page 38 of Dragon #304.

So that's where I saw that spell. I was looking through all my books because I wanted to suggest it (notably I had thought incorrectly it was in Savage Species), but it was actually in a Dragon article

Hey, sorry to comment on such an old thread, but I have a question about this.
How do you propose to equip an ooze character? Could it wear regular magic items?

IIRC I would say no anatomy and no limbs=no items slots. Ioun stones should still work though, or any item that doesn't require in item slot. Rings, bracers, capes etc. would be a no. Also, welcome to En-World.
