Opinions asked about a cleric character

First Post
I think this doesn't belong in the rules forum, so I'll post it hear.

We're about to start a new campaing in a "normal-powered forgotten realms" (which means a powered down FR). A usual "good vs evil" campaing in which the PCs are heros on the rise fighting despicable villains.

I will play a sun elf cleric of Labelas Enoreth (the god of time, knowledge, and all that gay stuff).

The question is:

What spells, feats and skills should I look upon and domains ?

Stats are (IIRC) str 10, dex 10, con 8, int 16, wis 16, cha 14.

Domains available are knowledge, good, chaos, elf (FRSC) and time (FRSC) (I think I'm forgetting one...)

His personnality is something among the lines of:

- more or less pacifist, but still carry a long sword and a bow

- never act on impluse always thoughtful and introspective

- I see him more or less as the group's diplomat (what skills are good for that besides sense motive and diplomacy ???)

Thanks for your help

Honestly I don't think that 16 in INT is going to help you much, because the cleric skill list is pretty pathetic. Granted, I understand it's part of your character concept, but you might consider taking a level of bard to help meet that concept?

Seems to me that clerics are more about combat and spellcasting than skills, so if that's the concept you are shooting for, that's the direction I would go.

But then again, in my campaigns, all races are given "favored class = any."

I can't swap my scores. They are as is. The concept appeared afterward. And I'm the one with the highest wis score, therefore a cleric.

So the question remain:

What spells, feats and skills and domain should I look upon ?

The Elf Domain gets you some free bow feats, which is good. There are also some good spells within...

Time domain is also very good.

Spellcasting Prodigy and Mind over body would be excellent feats... if you could choose two at 1st level... Pick one of those, I would lean more towards Mind over body as your CON sucks. But then stick with Meta Feats for the extra hit points also.

I know elves are sissies, but I can't fathom deliberately inflicting an 8 Con on yourself. Do you know how much damage monsters can truck out in 3E?! Perhaps this isn't the kind of advice you're looking for, but I'd suggest bumping your Con up at least 2 points, if only to get rid of that horrid negative modifier.

The scores are as is, I can't change them. I could change my race though, but in that case, I'd have to choose another good god that falls within the concept of this character.

Anyway, the question remain:

What spells, feats and skills and domain should I look upon ?

As for domains, I guess I'll take time for the improved init feat, and I'll consider the mind over body feat. Spellcasting prodigy is forbidden in our FRCS.

The Mystic PrC in "MoF" might be something you are interested in... look at the prereqs for ideas on which feats/skills to purchase.

Of the domains you listed, I'm partial to Good myself. An extra caster level doesn't seem like a whole lot, but it can be worth it. Your good summoned monsters stick around an extra round. All you good spells will be that much harder to dispel.

Also, look at the domain spells. I'm not a big fan of Protection from Evil or Magic Circle agains Evil, but look at the others:

2--Aid

4--Holy Smite (good combat spell, prereq for Holy weapon enchantment)

5--Dispel Evil

6--Blade Barrier (c'mon, it's Blade Barrier!)

7--Holy Word (basically Power Word, Good)

8--Holy Aura

9--Summon Monster IX

That's a pretty good selection.

I'd say Elf (for Point Blank Shot) and Time (for flavor) and take Precise shot possibly at 1st level (or spell casting prodigy then take Precise Shot) and sit back with your bow. You really aren't cut out for a front line character at all, as someone said a minus to con hella sucks, so I would stick to backline fighting with a bow to help out. i'd look into getting some mithril armor ASAP since you probably want to stay light and mobile but need some AC. I'd also look into getting +con items for the extra HPs.
