Opinions on Dungeon Crawl Classics #39: DM Screen and Adventure

I have the Kingdoms of Kalamar 3.5 DM screen. 4 of them in fact. They are the best screens I have ever seen in over 20 years of gaming for the D&D game. If you can convince me that the Goodman screen is better than Kenzer's, I'll buy it. Even knowing Cooper edited it doesn't make it good enough.

Plus how long it is, is a big negative to me. Part of why I like Kenzers screen so much is that they made foldable panels to keep it down to being just a few panels wide. Plus they made sure the panels I need most often are the ones on top.

Plus Kenzers is laminated and held up to almost two years of regular use before I switched to Castles and Crusades as my normal game. I still keep it on the table to reference odd stuff.

Does this screen practically eliminate all need to reference the PH and DMG during game play for the DM? With obvious exceptions of questions about spells and magic items?

Plus the adventure sounds rather lame.

I typically love Goodman Games DCC's, but I don't think this is going to be one of them.

Back in 2nd Ed AD&D days I made my own DM screen in MS Publisher and pasted the printed pages to two folders duct taped together because I didn't like the official TSR one. The first half of that endeavor was by far the most tedious and unfun part. A PDF of a DM screen saves me hours of making tables myself, but the price tag is a little friggin steep so I'll only bother if its well done.
The funny thing is that for me, the first part would be the most fun. I rather like creating my own handouts, layouts, and whatnot. I probably would not use MS Publisher, but that's more of a personal preference. I've thought time and time again about making DM Screens for various games lately, but I do not have the art I would want for borders and to face the players.

I haven't had the chance to read the module as yet, but I've been using the screen/s for the past couple sessions and I must say that it's one of the best screens I have seen for a long time. Sure, it's two screens but it has all the info that I need on them and that makes it worth it's money IMO.

Yeah, but I say the same thing about the Kenzer Screen. So I see no reason, yet, to get another screen. Especially since the Kenzer screen hasw elements I like better.

Now if I could just find a screen like this that is 3.0 and not 3.5, I would actually start to think about using a screen again.

I'm pretty sure Kenzer made a 3.0 screen like that. I know because I gave my old 3.0 screen to my DM when I got my 3.5 screen. I dont know if there are any floating around on Ebay.

The photos on the Goodman Games website don't really provide a good view of the artwork on this thing. Any idea where I can see some closeups?

Sure--look at the cover art of most of the DCCs published; many of them are on the screens.
